  • Episode 32 - Doctrine and Covenants 88, "Establish … a House of God” PART A
    Aug 13 2025

In this episode, I dive into Doctrine and Covenants 88, an amazing revelation about light, glory, and the peace Christ offers us, even when life feels hard. I share how this section came in the middle of challenges for the early Saints and how it teaches us to seek God’s will, not just our own. We’ll talk about what it means to be sanctified, why consolation is just as much a gift as joy, and how the story of the brother of Jared shows the importance of doing our part before asking for miracles. Along the way, I share personal experiences, tender mercies, and lessons the Lord has been teaching me about trust, preparation, and finding light in dark places.

  • Episode 31 - Doctrine and Covenants 85-87, "Stand Ye in Holy Places"
    Aug 4 2025

This episode is about journals, how the spirit feels and how it testifies to us, and about standing in holy places.

    From the manual:

Christmas Day is usually a time to ponder messages like “peace on earth” and “good will toward men” (see Luke 2:14). But on December 25, 1832, Joseph Smith’s mind was occupied with the threat of war. South Carolina had just defied the United States government and was preparing for battle. And the Lord revealed to Joseph that this was only the beginning: “War,” He declared, “will be poured out upon all nations” (Doctrine and Covenants 87:2). It seemed like this prophecy would be fulfilled very soon.

But then it wasn’t. Within just a few weeks, South Carolina and the U.S. government reached a compromise, and war was averted. But revelation is not always fulfilled at the time or in the way we expect. Nearly 30 years later, long after Joseph S mith was martyred and the Saints had moved west, South Carolina did rebel and civil war followed. Since then, war throughout the world has caused “the earth [to] mourn” (Doctrine and Covenants 87:6). While the prophecy was ultimately fulfilled, the value of this revelation is less in predicting when calamity will come and more in teaching what to do when it does. The counsel is the same in 1831, 1861, and 2021: “Stand ye in holy places, and be not moved” (verse 8).

Melanie I love that you can talk to people so easily. I wish I could be that way. We recently traveled and we didn’t talk to anyone. I need to make that my new goal to reach out to people wherever we are and not be afraid. Thanks for your example and for sharing your experiences!❤️

Love to listen!!

I wish I had known about this podcast months ago. I will be going back and listening to the Book of Mormon podcasts along side the new ones for the Doctrine and Covenants.

Really enjoy listening

My husband and I were first introduced to Come Follow Me for Us about a year ago. We immediately fell in love with Melanie and her amazing insights on the lessons she was teaching from. My husband and I have cried with her, laughed with her, and cheered her on from the sidelines. I have felt an abundance of The Spirit while listening to the podcast. My husband is in the process of getting re-baptized and I know if it weren't for this podcast he wouldn't be so close to this goal (expecting his re-baptism Spring/Summer 2021). I can honestly say that there have been many times that Melanie has inspired him to stay on the right path in spite of Satan tempting him to do otherwise. I myself have found peace and understanding in many paths of my own life based on what I've heard in the podcast. Thank you Melanie for such an amazing addition to our gospel study! We love and pray for you and your always. By the way, my mother has six children and all but one have drifted from the church at one point or another. Her dream is to one day have all six of us at the temple together with her. My oldest sister and my brother both went through the temple and have fallen away. My second oldest sister has not been through the temple, YET. But me and my two other sisters (the youngest three) have all been to the temple and are very active in church. My baby sister went through January 2009 then my sister just older than me went through September 2018 and finally I was endowed March 16, 2019. Coming up on two years and I can say I have never been stronger in my faith than I am now. I miss attending the temple and await the day I get to be sealed to my husband (Hopefully in just over a year). But I mention this because I want you to know that my mom knows your struggle and she told me once that all she can do is pray for her children and so far it has helped a ton and one day we will all be in the celestial room together, around my mom and her dream will come true. I believe with all my heart that the faith and prayers of a mother hold the Power of Jesus Christ more than we can even imagine.

Thank you again for this wonderful podcast and we look forward to many more.

My daughter introduced me to this podcast. 6 months ago. Melanie is delightful. she has wonderful insight to the come follow me lesson's and shares her testimony in an entertaining and loving way. I listen to the the podcast throughout the week and it has now become a Sunday afternoon tradition to listen again with my mom. Even my child that is no longer a member of the Church enjoys her podcast and I feel the podcast has been instrumental in softening their heart and helping them see the good in my belief. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone desiring to become closer to Christ.

I love listening to Melanie because she is so REAL. She presents truth with the Spirit, in a relatable & entertaining way. I am far from a deep diver or scriptorian because I get so overwhelmed, & this podcast has helped me wade a little deeper into the scriptures and the gospel. Plus, she makes me laugh, which is always a good thing.

I love this!
