  • Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe ~ Full Audiobook [biography]
    Oct 3 2025
Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe audiobook. Genre: biography Rendered with razor-sharp realism and wicked wit, Moll Flanders is the breathless, candid life story of a woman who refuses to be crushed by the strictures of 18th-century England. Told in her own irrepressible voice, this gripping narrative follows Moll from her hardscrabble beginnings and a string of marriages to daring acts of theft, cunning schemes, arrests, and voyages across the Atlantic — a picaresque tale of survival, social climbing, and relentless resourcefulness. Daniel Defoe balances suspense and dark humor with pointed social observation, inviting listeners to witness a protagonist who is at once scandalous and sympathetic, morally ambiguous yet fiercely human. Perfect for audiobook listeners, the tale’s vivid scenes, brisk pacing, and confessional tone make Moll’s fortunes and misfortunes feel immediate and intimate; her eventual reckoning and search for redemption resonate as powerfully today as they did in Defoe’s time. Whether you’re drawn to historical realism, razor-edged satire, or a heroine who will stop at nothing to claim her place in the world, this classic delivers a richly narrated journey through crime, survival, and transformation. • Lady Chatterleys Lover by D. H. Lawrence ~ Full Audiobook [romance]
    Oct 2 2025
Lady Chatterleys Lover by D. H. Lawrence audiobook. Genre: romance Immerse yourself in D. H. Lawrence’s daring, lyrical tale of love, desire and social fracture: Lady Chatterley’s Lover follows Constance Reid—trapped in an emotionally distant marriage to an aristocratic intellectual—and her passionate, awakening relationship with the gamekeeper Oliver Mellors. On the wind-swept estates and in the intimate hush of woodlands, Lawrence’s prose finds the electric intersections between body and soul, class and longing, industrial modernity and the healing rhythms of the land. This audiobook brings those textures to life: a skilled narrator can render Lawrence’s sensual imagery, sharp social critique and vulnerable interiority with nuance, turning every quiet confession and charged silence into an experience that is at once personal and epochal. Listen for the novel’s urgent exploration of human connection—how speech, touch and honesty can both redeem and disrupt—and for the emotional honesty that made the book controversial, influential and enduring. Whether you come for its raw romance, its keen observations of class and labor, or its lush, poetic sentences, this performance invites you to witness a radical story of intimacy that still resonates today. I've now listened to several of these 800+ (and growing) episodes/books, and sampled many more. They are read well, for the most part, and cover a broad range of topics, authors and time periods. There are both fiction and non-fiction, children's, YA and adult titles. I assume all are in the public domain, whether by lapsed or expired copyright. A number of the series' titles are otherwise unavailable for free through Audible, but the edition for sale on Audible will likely be a better reading or translation. I haven't checked, but some of the more obsure titles are likely not available at all. Some have attributions to Librivox, but a variety of sources seem to be drawn from. The biggest drawback, due to the podcast/episode structure of the collection, is that you can't search by title or author, only by upload date. You must load page after page until you find (or don't find) a title or author you're hoping is in the collection. But what do you want for FREE? There are both diamonds and lumps of coal in this mine. You just have to keep digging until you find your diamonds.
