  • The Brooklyn Murders by G. D. H. Cole ~ Full Audiobook [mystery]
    Nov 22 2025
The Brooklyn Murders by G. D. H. Cole audiobook. Genre: mystery Step into the fog-bound streets and dim tenements of early 20th‑century Brooklyn, where a single brutal killing is only the beginning of a far deeper mystery. In *The Brooklyn Murders*, master of detection G. D. H. Cole draws you into a labyrinth of overlapping alibis, hidden motives, and dangerous secrets that cross the Atlantic and entangle the lives of strangers who are anything but innocent. When a man is found dead under circumstances that make no sense—locked rooms that shouldn’t be locked, witnesses who remember too much or too little, and a trail of clues that seem almost too neat—an unassuming but razor‑sharp investigator begins to pull at the loose threads. Each chapter peels back another layer of deception as suspects emerge from boarding houses, backroom bars, and respectable drawing rooms, all with something to hide and everything to lose. With its clever plotting, atmospheric detail, and mounting tension, this classic whodunit invites you to listen closely, weigh every word, and match wits with the detective right up until the final, stunning revelation. If you love Golden Age mysteries full of intricate puzzles and richly drawn characters, this audiobook will keep you hooked, guessing, and listening late into the night. • Bunce, the Bobby and the Broads by Fritz Zorn ~ Full Audiobook [drama]
    Nov 21 2025
Bunce, the Bobby and the Broads by Fritz Zorn audiobook. Genre: drama Step into the smoky, neon‑washed streets of 1960s London, where the pubs never sleep, the jukebox never stops, and trouble is always one bad decision away. Bunce is a small‑time chancer with big‑time ambitions, a man who lives on quick scams, easy charm, and the hope that his next scheme will finally change his luck. The “Bobby” is the dogged, world‑weary policeman who’s been watching Bunce dance along the edge of the law for far too long. And the “Broads” are the sharp‑witted, sharp‑dressed women who know that in this city, survival depends on seeing three moves ahead of the men who think they’re in charge. In this crackling, dialogue‑driven tale of cons, collisions, and close calls, alliances shift as fast as the night’s last orders. Zorn lets you hear every clink of glass, every whispered deal, every hurried footstep in the alley as Bunce’s latest ploy spirals into a dangerous game that no one can fully control. Performed by a full cast who bring every sly joke, tense stare, and smoky-room secret vividly to life, this audiobook plunges you into a world where everyone’s bluffing, no one’s innocent, and the only question is who will be left standing when the sun finally crawls over the rooftops. If you love character‑driven crime capers laced with wit, atmosphere, and moral ambiguity, this is a ride you won’t want to step off until the very last scene fades to black. • The Sea Mystery by Freeman Wills Crofts ~ Full Audiobook [mystery]
    Nov 20 2025
The Sea Mystery by Freeman Wills Crofts audiobook. Genre: mystery Fog rolls over the Devonshire coast as the tide slowly reveals a chilling discovery: a dismantled packing case containing a man’s body, with every clue deliberately obscured. No name. No obvious motive. No clear trail. From this single grim puzzle, the methodical and quietly relentless Inspector Joseph French of Scotland Yard begins one of his most intricate investigations. With almost nothing to go on, French must reconstruct a crime that seems to have been engineered to leave no trace—calculating train timetables, analyzing shipping routes, and patiently testing alibis against the unforgiving logic of time and place. Freeman Wills Crofts, a master of the classic “howdunit,” invites you into a world where reason, persistence, and tiny overlooked details are the keys to unlocking murder. As the clues carry French from remote coastal villages to industrial centers and shadowy docks, the narrative tightens like a noose, each new fact snapping into place with almost mathematical precision. This audiobook is a slow-burn intellectual pleasure: atmospheric, grounded in realistic police work, and deeply satisfying as every piece of the puzzle finally clicks into a perfectly constructed solution. Listeners who love Golden Age detective fiction, ingenious plotting, and fair-play mysteries will find “The Sea Mystery” an absorbing experience from the first shrouded clue to the last, devastating revelation. I've now listened to several of these 800+ (and growing) episodes/books, and sampled many more. They are read well, for the most part, and cover a broad range of topics, authors and time periods. There are both fiction and non-fiction, children's, YA and adult titles. I assume all are in the public domain, whether by lapsed or expired copyright. A number of the series' titles are otherwise unavailable for free through Audible, but the edition for sale on Audible will likely be a better reading or translation. I haven't checked, but some of the more obsure titles are likely not available at all. Some have attributions to Librivox, but a variety of sources seem to be drawn from. The biggest drawback, due to the podcast/episode structure of the collection, is that you can't search by title or author, only by upload date. You must load page after page until you find (or don't find) a title or author you're hoping is in the collection. But what do you want for FREE? There are both diamonds and lumps of coal in this mine. You just have to keep digging until you find your diamonds.
