Cat Clayton Mysteries

  • Summary

  • Description: Somewhere down in Texas, I write humorous mysteries, featuring an amateur sleuth. Some say they’re like book versions of the Hallmark mystery movies. Being a Hallmark fan, I take the description as a compliment. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, I thought about different ways I could show gratitude to my readers. Write a new book in my series? Two books? Write a giveaway novella or a post a weekly serial story? (I did write the 4th book in my series.) But I needed the idea to be different, innovative. I wanted it to be free. Fun. And a way to pass the hours curled up in a comfy spot, sipping a warm beverage during such an unparalleled and difficult time. This podcast is the result of my efforts. It is my gift to you, dear readers. Now, settle in, and let me tell you a few stories. I’m Cat Clayton and deep in the heart of Texas my curiosity quills the crime. My humorous mysteries feature an amateur sleuth surrounded by a quirky cast of characters. They have a Nancy Drew meets the small-town south kind of vibe. Some say they’re like book versions of the Hallmark mystery movies. Being a Hallmark fan, I take the description as a compliment. Episodes
  • Episode 23: How to Leash a Thief, Episode 23
    Jul 16 2021

This week's episode was by far one of the most difficult to record for several reasons. First, I recorded it during a terrible case of bronchitis. LOL, I actually felt like Steely dealing with her asthma. Lucky for y'all, I edited out (most of) my wheezing. The second reason is the scene is intense. It packs a punch, and it contains that moment when all seems doomed for Steely and Cuff. Will they prevail? Can they catch the bad guy? Who is the culprit? And lastly, this episode concludes the first season of the Cat Clayton Mysteries.

Bringing How to Leash a Thief, book 1 of the Steuthin' in Boots series to The End is bittersweet. For those who've followed along, I applaud you. Thank you so much for listening and sticking with me as I navigated my way in creating my very first "podiobook." Most of the time, I felt like I stumbled my way through the story. But I'm humbled by the wonderful feedback I've received from my listeners. I can't wait to begin season two with How to Kennel a Killer, book 2 of the Sleuthin' in Boots series. Episode one will release on August 1st. Until then, be happy and sleuth on, my friends. <3 http://www.catclayton.com/

Once again, I'm appreciative of the super cool “Acoustic Blues” tune by Dark Horse Music. The swanky, sleuthy vibe fit perfectly with the story. great listen for commuting

Downloaded this podcast to use as background noise at work, but quickly realized it was too good for that. It's fun and interesting. Definitely makes drive to and from work, stress free and leaves exiting my truck with a smile on face.
love it.

Very entertaining

Had a healthy dose of mystery, comedy and romance. The characters stayed true. I haven’t laughed this much in ages.

Hallmark anyone?

If you’ve watched and enjoyed any of the Hallmark movie mysteries, you’ll enjoy this podcast. The storyline was interesting, but the protagonist’s inability to control herself was annoying as well as all of the warnings from
various characters and law enforcement officers to “stop sleuthing or else!” were extremely predictable- complete overkill. I also wish the author used other people to voice some of the characters because her voice made it difficult to distinguish between characters.

Great for binging.

I picked up this podcast looking for something light. The story moves along, 23 episodes, not too long, not too short, great for binging. I would not have stuck it out if I had to wait week to week for the next 25 minute episode. One great line, 'Can it wait?' depicts the small town Texas attitude but context is everything. I hope you laugh! I did.
