Today, we’re walking the streets of one of America’s fastest-growing and most recognized small cities—but we’re doing so with intention. Our guide is Kendra Williams, a South Carolina native, Greenville resident, and dedicated tourism professional who’s on a mission to ensure that the city’s Black history—American history—is seen, heard, and never forgotten.

While Greenville has a rich and complex Civil Rights legacy, much of it has been overlooked or left untold. Kendra is helping to change that. Through her work, she’s shining a light on the stories, landmarks, and lives that have shaped this city—stories of resilience, resistance, and community that deserve a permanent place in Greenville’s narrative.
