  • Lomachenko Dominates Kambosos + Fight News And Felix Trinidad Nostalgia Too! | Fight Freaks Unite Recap Podcast
    May 13 2024
A dominant performance by a world class fighter, an all time "screw up" by a ring announcer in a championship fight, plus, some news and always, some great nostalgia is part of the "Fight Freaks Unite Recap Podcast!"

Host T.J. Rives and Dan Rafael insider of BigFightWeekend.com are back to give their thoughts on it all.

First, they discuss Vasiliy Lomachenko overwhelming George Kambosos for a late TKO to win the IBF world lightweight title Sunday afternoon in Australia. Dan has thoughts on what he saw in this one and how tremendous Lomachenko has been throughout his career. They also discuss if names like Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson could be next for him late in 2024?

The guys also discuss Mexican Pedro Guevara's upset of Aussie Andrew Moloney for the WBC junior bantamweight title on the Loma undercard. How and why did Guevara get it done and do we believe Moloney will retire? Or, will these two fight again? And, they have more on the ridiculous ring announcer screw up of naming the wrong winner in the women's WBA bantamweight championship.

There's fight news on Rafael Espinoza returning to the ring to defend the WBO featherweight title in June, Janibek Alimkhanuly now scheduled to defend his unified middleweight crowns in July and what is the WBC doing already ordering Devin Haney's next defense, when they have given Jermall Charlo and Canelo Alvarez a "pass" on not fighting their mandatories for years.

Dan finishes with great nostalgia on Puerto Rican legend "Tito" Trinidad fighting William Joppy in an electric environment at Madison Square Garden in 2001 and a prominent Brit Ricky Hatton fighting in Boston in a controversial ending 18 years ago. Dan was ringside for both.

  • Edgar Belanga Talks Possible Canelo Bout With Dan + Lomachenko-Kambosos Meet In Australia | BFW Preview Podcast
    May 10 2024
We get ready for another compelling weekend of action, this time in Australia for a lightweight world title showdown and a top super middleweight contender is our guest, as well, on the "Big Fight Weekend Preview Podcast."

Host T.J. Rives is back with insider Dan Rafael of BigFightWeekend.com and we're ready to go over the previews, news, nostalgia and more.

First, they talk Vasiliy Lomachenko and George Kambosos meeting in the Top Rank Boxing main event Sunday afternoon from Perth, Australia, for the vacant IBF lightweight title. Will the future hall of famer Loma get one of the lightweight belts he held back or will it be the Aussie redeeming hiself after Devin Haney beat him badly in two title fights there in 2022? The guys discuss.

They also recap the thrilling KO win by arguably the best pound for pound fighter in the sport in Naoya Inoue. The Japanese star was shockingly down in round one, but rallied for yet another big KO with Mexico's Luis Nery. It's definitely a hall of fame resume already for "The Monster" and this added to it.

Next, hear from unbeaten 168 lb. contender Edgar Berlanga, who attended the Canelo Alvarez win over Jaime Munguia last weekend in Las Vegas last Saturday ngiht. He and Dan discuss the very realistic possibility that Berlanga will get a shot next at Canelo.

There's fight news involving the WBC finally stripping Jermall Charlo of his WBC middleweight crown after yet another arrest, this time for DUI and a high speed car chase. They've now elevated interim champ Carlos Adames to full titleholder and let's see if the talented Adames will get a title fight soon?

There's a further update on the Ryan Garcia PED positive tests controversy, as Garcia now wants his "B Samples" tested. Dan and T.J. discuss what it all means and whether Garcia is still looking at a lengthy suspension by the NY State Athletic Commision?

And there's nostalgia on the anniversary of a big heavyweight triple header in New York from 1996 featuring Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis and Tim Witherspoon in seperate bouts. Plus, it's the third anniversary of Canelo Alvarez fighting before a current indoor record in the USA of 73,000 fans as he kayoed Billy Joe Saunders in Arlington, TX at AT & T Stadium.

Hear it all on the "Big Fight Weekend Podcast" and make sure to follow/subscribe on Apple, Spreaker, Spotify, etc.

  • Canelo Alvarez Schools Munguia, Complete Card Recap, News + Mayweather-De La Hoya Nostalgia | Fight Freaks Unite Recap Podcast
    May 6 2024
Future hall of famer Canelo Alvarez returned Saturday night and won easily in his latest undisputed defense. We recap that fight and the entire PBC card from Vegas and more on the newest "Fight Freaks Unite Recap Podcast!"

Host T.J. Rives returns with insdier Dan Rafael, still in Las Vegas?! Yes.

Off the top, Dan explains why he didn't make it home Sunday and will "hang" in Vegas for another day or so.

Then, there's lots of discussion on Canelo's unanimous decision win over Jaime Munguia to retain his super middleweight crowns. Canelo "took Munguia to school" with his counter punching and savy in his latest title defense. What's next for him and where does the previously unbeaten Munguia go from here?

Dan also goes over the undercard as both Mario Barrios and Eimintas Stanionis won their welterweight bouts for pieces, potentially, of the world title. And, will they be fighting each other coming up? Dan also has more on the Brandon Figueroa and Jesus Ramos victories on the PPV undercard too.

Then, there's fight news on Gervonta Davis and David Benivadez being part of the presser Saturday in Las Vegas for their June PPV upcoming. Dan was there and has insight.

Also, there's an update and another injury, this time a knee, for Artur Beterbiev that will delay the June undisputed light heavyweight title bout with fellow Russian Dmitry Bivol. Will this fight ever happen? What will Bivol do in the short term? The boys go over it.

Then, some tremendous nostalgia on the 17th anniversary of Floyd Mayweather vs. Oscar De La Hoya battling on "Cinco De Mayo Weekend" in 2007. Dan was there for all the build up and Mayweather, as the villan, outfought Oscar for one of the biggest wins of his career.
