This genre of self-improvement, self-development, and mastery of your mind has, I believe, been made over complicated and secretive and here I am de-constructing the processes into their simple forms that we can all understand and easily use. There are no interviews just little ol' me ;0) Who am I and what do I do?………Paul Clough. I now love helping making changes in people and to guide them to create the life they really want. A personal look at me: The above sentence was not always the case and being the best in the financial realms of the building industry was my aim and getting there by any means. I now know this is, and was, the worst way ~ even if I did make director of one of the largest building companies in Cambridge by the age of 30. One of the major realizations came on my first ever training in hypnosis. I found that it's not a win-lose world and that a win-win is only a low basis to live. Being true to your beliefs and coming from a place of integrity where service is paramount. This understanding together with lots of NLP skills helped create my last partnership in the building industry grow from a turnover of £800k to £16m in less than twelve years and that can only be done with giving more than expected. Another shaping of me came from two traumatic events in my life that happened within six months of each other which created a number of major changes in me and my beliefs in what is possible. I have written about my experience and how I dealt with it but more importantly it really showed me my love for my three boys and theirs for me and resulted in the step up to become a trainer of NLP (which I never intended) and my close and exciting work with two of my sons. In supporting Joseph and help create change in people in our training's and his wonderful life changing 'Be your potential weekend' and with Luke the continuing development of Cambridge Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis processes. My relationship with my third son Daniel just keeps getting better and better too. Not knowing how good I had become in change work, in the beginning, I generally studied, practiced, and saw clients then things started to happen when I started to work following just my instincts. Two clients come to mind both in effect dying from the effects of what was happening to them and the way they felt and within one and two sessions respectively not only won the will to live they changed virtually in front of my eyes and being apart of that process was and is the best feeling alive. The above are just three of the many brilliant learnings I have had in my life. Slight difference is I want you to think about things. So on a longer podcast, we can dive deeply into the subject and also with processes that allow you to change your issues. But what is it today? What is it today? Well, compassion or empathy. You see, I have real trouble with empathy. You see, empathy, if I can say it right, seems to be that you have to feel the feelings of that person to understand them. And I know some really nice people who are mega empathetic. And the thing is, I don't think it does them any good, because they really feel the feelings of someone who is in pain. And they feel in pain. I don't mind empathy when you're, you know, when you're feeling good, I'll join you in that one like no one's business. I'll be there quick as a flash. But as a therapist, I don't want to feel your pain. I really don't. My mother, bless her, she was super empathetic. She would have people come round. And in my mind, they were like, they dumped all their emotional pain on her, left it with her and walked away smiling. And she would then be for days thinking about it, worried about it, feeling it. Hey, welcome to the Lungar podcast. How to achieve your goals the easy way. And yes, there is an easy way. And if you think about it, everyone talks, gives advice, maybe gives a workshop, give masterclasses in goal setting. And so many just go through the steps. But some forget that visualisation of the last step. And the last step is not the last step just before you get it. The last step is having already got your goal. You've achieved it. You're just about to move on. And you see, when you know that that's the step and you have it, so you know the step, you have that step, things just seem so good. You feel so incredible. You feel so motivated. You feel so confident because you've already achieved it. It's as if you have already achieved it. And I do this in so many ways in my trainer's training. I had to visualise not getting the certificate because that wasn't it for me. It was sitting alone on these steps out on the balcony in Santa Cruz University, holding my certificate just by myself saying, Bloody hell Cloughie, we did it. That was my confirmation. And the thing is, the weird thing about that was, when we were given the certificates, someone had forgotten to sign them. So the certificates didn't actually mean anything. That's so weird. So weird. But that feeling that I took through the whole of, it was July, a few years ago, but the whole of July, I had that sense, that feeling, Cloughie, we've done it.     Help Me Make a Difference Hey, it's Paul here, and this episode is a little different. I want to ask for your help — because I really want to make a difference. For years I've been putting out two episodes a week — a Five-Minute Quickie and a longer one — and to be honest, it's been tough to keep up. More than that, I've realised I want to go deeper. I want to spend more time on the stuff that really matters — the stuff that helps people change for good. So, from now on, I'll be doing one episode a week. Sometimes it'll be a short FMQ to plant a seed, and sometimes a longer one where we dive deep — with hypnosis, NLP, and all the good stuff that helps you change from the inside out. I don't think we ask that enough, do we? How are you doing? And mean it. Sometimes I think we have to ask at least three times to the same person. Really? How you doing? Really? How you doing? And what am I talking about? What am I talking about? Well, I'm going to change the format of the Personal Development Unplugged podcast. For the last years and years and years and years and years, I've been cracking out two podcasts a week, five minute quickie and a longer version. And it's taken its toll a little bit because I find it really difficult to fit it all in. And my mind is that there's important things to talk about where we need to go into depth, find processes that really make a difference, approach the difficult subjects. And I think to do that, I'm only going to do a weekly podcast. And one of those will be a seed, a five minute quickie still, but it'll be a seed for a longer podcast so I can get you to think. Think and get ready for something deeper. But the whole point is I want to help people. I want to help people more than I've been doing. And to do that, again, I say we've got to approach these subjects, which are a little bit not taboo, but maybe they're not spoken about quite so much. And I'm noticing it happening a bit more now. You know, guys opening up, being strong and saying they need help. Unfortunately, there's one or two that we've seen in the news that don't. Damn, we miss them. It's too big a shame and we need to do something about it. And that's just not guys. It's everyone. We all have our struggles. And sometimes these struggles can seem so much because they're all inside, aren't they? They're in our bloody head and we seem to think that we have to deal with them by ourselves because it's weak to tell anybody about it. Or find the right person. Or I can't afford to get the therapy I need. I can't even admit I need therapy. And that's no fucking good to anybody. So what I want to do is to get deeper into subjects. Take a little time to get things right. I know. But I want to do deeper subjects with real deep hypnosis to get the unconscious mind to change. Because a lot of these issues that we have, they're in our bloody head. And they're not caused consciously. You think about it consciously. But if you had created it consciously, you would change easily, effortlessly. Just by thinking about it. Because you create things consciously, you change things consciously. But these are at an unconscious level. They're like unconscious behaviours. That limiting belief, those emotions, those negative emotions. And although they're, well I believe they're there to protect us. I just know there's better ways. And it's your unconscious mind needs guiding. It needs help to create change at the unconscious level. Because this is where our issues are created. Something happens to us and our unconscious mind decides to help.
