Episodes
  • Taken From Home (The "Lipstick Killer" And The Murder Of Suzanne Degnan)
    Apr 23 2024

January in Chicago was always brutal. The winter of 1946 was no different. Three murders with one kidnapping in the same area. Were they all the work of one killer? Or was an "innocent" man put away for life while a more brutal killer was still on the loose, living amongst us...?

  • Last Stand Of The Barker Gang
    Apr 9 2024

There’s a house just outside the town of Ocklawaha, Florida, that stands as one of the most infamous locations in America’s gangland history. It was at this house where the last stand of the Barker gang took place and where Ma Barker and her son, Fred, battled it out with G-men before being shot to death. The violent and blood-soaked battle occurred many decades ago but there are many who believe it’s not quite over for the spirits that still linger behind these walls.

  • The Easter Sunday Massacre
    Mar 26 2024

There was nothing unusual about that Easter Sunday in 1975.

“How’s your Volkswagen, Jimmie?” Leonard asked him.

James didn’t speak. He answered the question by shooting his brother, setting off a spiral of violence and rage that ended as the deadliest shooting spree to ever occur in a private home in America’s bloody history.

One that left a grim and troubling haunting behind.

Not bad!

For those interested in folk lore, the paranormal/supernatural, general history, good yarns and good, old-fashioned horse's assery and dipshittery, this might just be the podcast for you! So, get yourself some pretzels and your best, nice cold, 120 year old vintage bottle of Lemp beer, and sit down for a while and take a listen ; and marvel at the fact that we live in a country where two morons living way too close to the Mason-Dixon and I70 line can make it in podcasting! It brings an inspirational tear to your eye and a lump in your throat to think about it....

Great pod cast

I have never been into pod cast until I found this as a recommendation after a book. I listen everyday and have enjoyed every episode. I have been into the paranormal etc.. since I had a weird experience coming home from my grandmas when I was about 10. I have heard all the stories about Alton St. Louis all of southern Illinois, and all the main stream ones too, but I have never heard the history behind them and this pod cast gave this to me. It you enjoy ghost and history like me I highly recommend!!!

Pro's and Con's

Pro's:
The Stories are well developed and researched. Narration of story is very good. His voice pleasant and the inflection and pace was dead on for me with the story part of the podcast. You can tell a lot of time and effort was put into recording a quality podcast.

Con's:
What's with the constant banjo/guitar picking???? By the 4th story the musical accompaniments were all I could hear. It felt a little to 'Deliverance' for my taste.
The post commentary tended to be more sales pitches for various ticket, books and events than discussion of story.

Makes for a good distraction

It's a lot of fun to listen to while I'm working. I only wish that I could listen to it for the whole shift.

Lucky to find American Hauntings

My brother Kaleb told me about this podcast about a year ago. He recently went to your conference and came back with lots of fun stories. I’m so glad he got to meet you guys. For reference, I am 18 years older than him so I’ve gotten the rare opportunity to watch my brother grow up. This is the first time I’ve seen him so excited about anything. He is studying paranormal and acquiring Equipment to start ghost hunting. He would probably say that I’m describing it wrong. Lol. But he brought me a troy book as a souvenir and I’m excited to read it. I’ve loved your podcast and have learned to accept troys interruptions of Cody. Maybe I will get to go with him next time. Thanks again!

One of my very favorite podcasts

I love ghost stories and I love true crime and I feel like this is the perfect mix of both. The history behind the hauntings is great and I love that so much research has gone into it. You both are great and make me laugh.
