  • Can Trump End the War? MSNBC Rebrands to MS NOW, The Left Hates the Constitution
    Aug 18 2025
Join Jim and Greg for the Monday edition of the 3 Martini Lunch as they have fun with some campaign news out of Pennsylvania and then serve up three major political martinis: President Trump’s efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, MSNBC rebranding to MS NOW, and a left-wing columnist calling to scrap the Constitution so progressives can enact more of their agenda.

Before the martinis, they react to Republican Pennsylvania State Treasurer Stacy Garrity announcing her run for governor in 2026. The name may be spelled differently, but Jim Geraghty is hilariously bracing to hear his name a lot over the coming year.

In the first martini, Jim breaks down the Trump-Putin summit in Alaska, weighing both the positive and negative results. They also examine what today’s Washington meeting between Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and European leaders could mean for future peace negotiations.

Next, they react to MSNBC rebranding to MS NOW. Jim suspects NBC News will be glad to no longer be synonymous with the rage fest on the cable channel once this process is complete. Greg and Jim are both severely underwhelmed by the new name.

Finally, they shake their heads as New York Times columnist Ross Douthat interviews Osita Nwanevu, a columnist for The New Republic, who basically wants to scrap the Constitution and start over because we're not enough of a democracy. The guest is especially infuriated over the existence of the U.S. Senate and the Electoral College and wants to pack the U.S. Supreme Court and add a several new states...you know...to save democracy.

  • Beijing’s Blunder at Sea, Voters Oppose Newsom's New Maps, Self-Deporting Illegals
    Aug 15 2025
Join Jim and Greg for the Friday 3 Martini Lunch. Today, it's all good martinis, as they focus on a serious collision of Chinese military vessels as they harassed a ship from the Philippines, California voters making it clear they want no part of California Gov. Gavin Newsom's gerrymandering scheme, and the Department of Homeland Security reporting many illegal aliens have self-deported.

First, after commenting on Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov appearing in Alaska wearing a CCCP sweater, they react to reports that two Chinese military ships collided at high speed as they tried to intimidate a much smaller military vessel from the Philippines. Jim says Beijing should use this as a chance to back off its territorial ambitions in the region but probably won't. They also discuss the mood in Taiwan amid recent rumors of a Chinese invasion.

Next, they lampoon Gov. Newsom’s bid to troll President Trump and Texas Republicans by proposing a ballot measure to undo California’s constitutional requirement for an independent redistricting commission. But polling shows voters overwhelmingly oppose the scheme. Jim also underscores how brazen it is for Democrats to push such a move in one of the most heavily gerrymandered states in America.

Finally, they welcome the DHS report that 1.6 million illegal aliens have voluntarily left the U.S. since Trump became president. This is additional proof that Trump's immigration policies are working. And they also explain how the left and its media allies are taking truly radical approaches to oppose the enforcement of immigration laws.

  • Schumer's D.C. Crime Delusion, Dems Demand Anti-Israel Candidates, Congressional UFO Lunacy
    Aug 14 2025
Join Jim and Greg as they dive into three crazy stories, namely Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer scoffing at the notion that there is a crime problem in Washington, Democratic presidential hopefuls realizing their hard left base expects them to be anti-Israel, and a Florida GOP congresswoman asserting that UFO's suggest we've been visited by "interdimensional" beings.

First, they marvel that Democrats are not suggesting a different wat to fight crime in the nation's capital, but are actually insisting that crime is not a problem there. Sen. Schumer says he always feels safe walking the streets of Washington, but Jim explains that the rest of us don't have a security detail to protect us.

Next, they're disturbed but not surprised to learn that prospective Democratic presidential candidates are tacking more anti-Israel because the progressive wing of the party loudly demands it. Jim and Greg look back at another sudden shift Democrats had in response to their base a generation ago, and point out that a majority of Democrats in the U.S. Senate already want to stop arming Israel.

Finally, they react to Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna for telling Joe Rogan that she has heard convincing testimony from people who claimed to see technology beyond what humans can produce. Furthermore, Rep. Luna suggests this technology was created by "interdimensional" beings. Jim finds the argument thoroughly underwhelming and questions whether the voters in Luna's district could do better.

this is a very based information presented in an educational format. Witty and humorous.

awesomeness

Every day, the 2 commentators pick three news items and rate them as a "good", "bad" or "crazy" martini. You get a short summary of the issue and their response and why they ranked them. Conservative bent but focus is mainly commonsense. Conservatives and liberals get called out. 20 minutes long, published M-F. Lots of fun - give it a try.

Short, sharp and timely
