#258 - Mayberry: Chopped & Posed - Mount Airy, North Carolina

This week, in Mount Airy, North Carolina, the town that "Mayberry" of The Andy Griffith Show is based on isn't so idyllic, considering a body is found, posed, and with the hands chopped off. The investigation couldn't have been more incompetent, if it was conducted by the Sheriff of a sitcom, instead of the actual real police that ended up with it. Wild truths come out about the killer, including even more murder, and a prison diary that goes public, and makes the whole system angry. Will he escape the electric chair?

Along the way, we find out that some people REALLY love The Andy Griffith Show, that chopping hands off doesn't keep anyone from identifying a body, and that killing more people doesn't make killing the first person okay to do!!

MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PODCAST!

The title sums up how I feel about this postmaster.

James and Jimmy are hilarious! James is the driving force of the podcast. He picks crazy, interesting stories. Jimmy makes comments and riffs throughout.

They have great chemistry. They make fun of dumb criminals and inept investigations. However, they never disrespect the victim. Why not? Because they are "assholes...NOT scumbags"! Ha!

James is an Italian-American NYC native who does perfect impersonations of mobsters. He also has outrageous anecdotes about his recently-passed grandmother.

Jimmie has a different background and personality. He self-depricatingly describes himself as "white trash". I disagree. Although he grew up poor in a rural area, he's a total sweetheart.

I love both of them so much!

I always look forward to Wednesday--the day their podcast drops.

Best true crime podcast.

I love small town murder, the stories are fascinating and the delivery is (chef's kiss) Amazing. I think they do an awesome job at mixing comedy and true crime.

Funny and detailed

They clearly put so much work into the research. I particularly appreciate how it doesn't end with the murderer being caught, but also includes the court proceedings.

I have been listening to Jimmy and James since episode 81 of crime in sports. Their humor and story telling is second to none. From the 90s references to the town reviews the weekly story is presented in a funny and informative manner.
