[המשך] ההוראה מהנ"ל לכאו"א, שהוא הרי "נשיא" בעניניו: גם כאשר אדם עושה חשבון באיזה מצב רוחני הוא יוצא מהיום שלפנ"ז ונכנס למלחמה עם היצה"ר ביום זה, בלי תומ"צ כדבעי, ולהיפך וכו', ושואל את עצמו עם מה יוכל להתגבר על הקשיים של היום בדרכו למלאות שליחותו ית' – הדבר חייב להשאר "בלבו", ואסור שזה ישפיע על פעולתיו, ואסור שיהי' ניכר אפי' על פניו שהוא מסתפק האם יצליח בשליחותו, כי זה גופא יכול לעזור לצד השמאל. וכמו שרואים א' מטכסיסי המלחמה הוא שכבר ביציאה למלחמה הולכים עם "מאַרש" של נצחון! – מצב-רוח כזה שאין לו אפי' ספק שינצח, שזה גופא עוזר לנצחון. ואז, כאשר ה"ספיקות" נשארות "בלבו", מבטיח הקב"ה "אל תירא אותו" ומבטל אפי' היראה מהלב.

Synopsis

(Continued.) The lesson from this for every individual (because everyone is a “nasi” in his own life) is that even when a person reflects on his spiritual state, and sees how he comes to today’s battle against the yetzer-hara lacking in Torah and mitzvos etc., and asks himself how he will be able to overcome the challenges and fulfill his mission from Hashem – these concerns must remain “in his heart.” It is forbidden for these concerns to affect his actions, and it is forbidden even for it to be visible on his face that is uncertain whether he will succeed in his mission, because that itself can give strength to the other side. As we see in a physical war, soldiers go to the front with a victory march, with a mindset that allows not even the slightest doubt that victory will come, and this itself contributes to the victory. And then, when the doubts remain only “in his heart,” Hashem promises, “Do not fear him,” and removes the fear from the heart as well.
