I will look forward to reading on paper but unfortunately I had to stop listening to this one because the narrator consistently mispronounced significant and well known words from Classical Greek (ie saying "Eras" instead of "Eros" over and over, as one example). I will happily read instead. Thank you for your work Dr Ehrman

BART teaches history in a non dogmatic, non judgmental way, gently painting a more historically plausible narrative of the life and teachings of Jesus, and the development of the Christian scriptures. Love thy neighbor is a must read for Christian’s and non Christian’s alike. As a non Christian myself I gained an appreciation for the message of a Jewish man and an appreciation for the good Christianity has brought about. Those of us in the agnostic camp have for too long seen only the damage Christianity has brought. Christianity is like all human creations a mixed bag, a reflection of human beings working out their God concept. Thank you Bart.

Solid work. Pleasant narrator. Regardless of your stance, we can agree there has been a lot of good that has come from the Judeo-Christian movement. However, those times have long passed.

Another great book from Ehrman

I like Ehrman and have listened to several of his books and Great Courses lectures. Like him, I am a former Christian, now agnostic, who nonetheless sees the deep effects of Christianity on modern Western culture. Ehrman’s book does a skillful job of contrasting ancient philosophical systems with the Judaism-infused, apocalyptic beliefs of the historical Jesus with the ethical system based on early Jesus cult followers and tying those early followers’ beliefs into the “common sense” morality of modern societies.
