For the first time, Charlie Sheen, the star of Platoon, Wall Street, Major League, and Two and a Half Men, writes the story of his extraordinary life in an unfiltered memoir.

“We can live the stories or hear about them later from others. I choose the former.”

Charlie Sheen should not be alive to write this book.

But in The Book of Sheen, the movie and TV star, who has defied the odds, finally presents his story, in his own words.

Charlie Sheen was born the third of four children to actor Martin Sheen and his wife, Janet. He grew up on film sets—from his father’s all over the world, to his own in Malibu. There he made ambitious Super 8s, with a roster of friends who went on to become household names themselves, including his brother Emilio, Sean and Chris Penn, and the Lowe brothers.

Sheen broke into movies in the 1980s, playing a hoodlum in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, a young soldier in Platoon, and an ethically compromised trader in Wall Street. But somewhere along the way, despite a successful transition to TV leading man in Spin City and Two and a Half Men, Sheen descended into a vortex of extracurricular activities.

Now sober, Sheen delivers a clear-eyed narrative of his highs and lows with humor, candor, and a vivid, captivating writing style that is uniquely his. The Book of Sheen comes across like a far-fetched, overstuffed novel of Hollywood life—yet it is all true.

I am a fan of memoirs, and I’ve read many. Sheen has inked an indelible,
poignant work that is crafted with his unique style of witty quips, analogous flair and rich authenticity without over sharing. I absolutely loved The Book of Sheen and binged it in a day and a half!

The first part of the book was such an unusual story. I loved listening to his voice. The tales of growing up in California. Stories about his family. I lived in L.A. for many years and didn't see the things he saw. I was too busy. And I always felt like a guest. Listening to the book it almost felt like maybe I hadn't really been there. And I'm sure I wasn't present as he clearly was. The writing and story telling was magical. And the writer is very witty. Midway through the book is a shift and he forays into sharing his good memories. He still has about ten volumes of great tales inside of him. But I got the impression he doesn't care to look back and isn't interested in "the past". It's amazing the way the red carpet has rolled out for him in his life. And more amazing that he seems entirely flippant about it all. As crazy as his stories sound, he comes across as incredibly sane. Unafraid and not overwhelmed. An unusual force of nature.

I always wondered what was going on in his life. Wow!!

I'm in recovery myself and this was intense, sad, heartbreaking and very real description of life as an addict. I have kept my sobriety for over 5 years. I always knew that if I were to start drinking, I would never have the strength to get sober again.I dont agree with his thinking on AA but understand we are all different. Praying for the best in his futre.

Didn’t hold back- told it like it was- the good the bad the ugly- he certainly did it his way

Why zero mention of the Corey Haim rape accusation by him, and Corey Feldman? it seems plausible that he did such a thing, given that he loses whole days of what he's done, including flights taken, and going through airports, and with all his sexual escapades., in a blur. I would like to know what he says about it.

When I saw that this book was just under 9 hours, I thought no way will it cover all the interesting things a listener wants to hear. Surprise, surprise! I love that Charlie covered his adolescence, literally from birth and the progression his life took every step of the way. Enjoyed hearing his journey into acting and the decent he went into to where he is now. A well written/audio book filled with great story telling. Bravo to Charlie for his recovery!
