I couldn't get enough of this author's novels! this book is different from the Alienist and just as engaging.

Interesting characters, vivid landscapes, compelling storyline. Held my rapt attention until the penultimate resolution involving the Spanish diplomat. Continued past that part to get to the story’s ending about Stevie’s adult life. Story told through Stevie’s voice. Narrator magically conveyed each character. A+ for narration.

generally an excellent story, but the several chapters in the courtroom were frankly boring. i skipped 'em, and it did not detract from the book at all.

Loved this. Loved The Alienist. Well written & narrated. I would recommend both of these books

I love this book. great ending. nice pace. sad at moments. triumphant in others . wish there was more. tv show doesn't do it justice. but if u weren't one reading it, the show would stand up.
