Publisher's Summary

2017 Independent Author Network Young Adult Book of the Year.

I belonged to you the moment you told my mama you were waiting for me when I was still inside her stomach. I belonged to you as we grew up sharing a tree house, a yard, and the lake. I even belonged to you when our three-year age difference tried to pull us apart rather than put us together. But I was most especially yours when you kissed me and told me you weren't letting me go.

Except you did. And now I'm wondering how to turn our lives from a country love song without a happy ending into one that does.... Because "loving you was a race I was determined to win".

Inspired by Taylor Swift's country songs, this is a story of aching love and loss and learning to live through life in all its pain and glory.

Heart-wrenching yet beautiful

This story is so beautiful yet heart breaking. This story moved me in ways I did not think possible. It has been almost a month since I read this book and it is still at the forefront of my mind whenever I listen to music. L.J. Evans has a way of connecting real life events to songs we hear everyday that I have never seen done before. To this day, this book still affects my heart. I even find it hard to write this review without getting emotional. It is absolutely amazing and ripped me apart in the most beautiful way possible.

The narration was beyond perfect. The way Sarah brings out all of the emotions with her voice is something that brings this audiobook to the next level. Her southern accent and male voice are absolutely amazing and make this audio even better!

Blown Away

I don't even know where to begin with this review. I think Sarah did an amazing job narrating this story and bringing so much life and depth to these characters I was part of their story. She made the transition between the characters so easy to listen to and such a pleasure to listen to.

This story -- WOW!!!! These characters and their story were so well written. I knew my heart was about to be ripped apart and every chapter I stated had me wondering if this was it. Truly this story is one of the most beautiful love stories and while for sure it ripped out my heart and left me ugly crying LJ Evans found a way to put me back together. I found the author did an amazing job providing the back story and just the flow of the story was the right way to be done. She hooks you in and just won't let you go. This was my first book by this author and I am so excited to read more.

Great story

This was my first LJ Evans's book. This story is beautifully written. I love Cam and Jake's story. I hate to cry, and this story is heartbreaking, but fortunately heartwarming afterward. I love the happy ending. The narration was well done, easy to understand. Sarah Puckett has the perfect voice for this story. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Beautiful

I experienced so many emotions reading through this book. It made me laugh and then promptly burst into tears. This book (and the songs that go along with the chapters) couldn't be any more perfect. Just a beautiful listen!

Still love this story!

I originally read My Life as a Country Album in June of 2017 and even a year and a half later, LJ Evans's story about first loves and second chances at loving and living again still gets to me. Evans has grown as her My Life as an Album has moved forward (and recently came to a satisfying conclusion), and this series starter is a reminder of how much promise she already had from the very beginning

I'm going to be repeating myself with this statement: there's a lyricism to this author's storytelling. It's that special quality that made me sit up and take notice when I first read this book and it's still front and center while listening to the audio version. This was Camdyn Swayne's story and I can almost guarantee that there should be at least one thing that listeners will either be able to empathize with or recognize as something they experienced themselves. Her love for Jake Phillips was pure and honest and it hearkens to days when things were simpler for someone like me...but there's nothing simple nor easy about their tale, although rest assured, it is ultimately inspiring.

Sarah Puckett is a new-to-me narrator, and for the most part, she did a good job bringing this beautiful love story to life. There were times where her accent sounded a wee bit campy to my ears, but that could totally be a case of "it's me, not you" on my part. Thankfully, it didn't take away anything from the actual story nor did it sully my overall listening experience and I wouldn't mind listening to more from Puckett in the future.

I would give the narration four stars and the story five stars, so that gives My Life as a Country Album an average rating of 4.5 stars. ♥

My Life as a Country Album is not to be missed!

Camden( Cam) and Jake were childhood friends. Jake is 3 years older than Cammy. He saved her from a fall when she was three and he was six. They were inseparable as children. This story chronicles their journey. It is one of the best audiobooks I’ve ever experienced. And I do mean experience! You will feel every emotional up and down! The narrator was superb! Do not pass up this book!

Beautiful Tribute!

My life as a Country Album by LJ Evans is an incredible listen! I found the story to be a beautiful tribute to a love lost. This book has friendship, unconditional love, tragedy, humor, happiness, moving on, and coming of age. I loved the story of Cam and Jake. The awareness that others have after loss was very insightful. The chapter titles were also adeptly selected and related to the story on so many levels. I loved how the author meshed music with fiction. Sarah Puckett hit this narration out of the ballpark! She is absolutely phenomenal with the voice of Cami, and has the Southern accent down to a T. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I cannot praise this book enough. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Absolutly Amazing

Wow, this story is so beautifully sad. I loved and hated it because of all the emotions it brought out in me. It took me through a journey of love and loss over and over again. The writing is amazing and the links to all the country songs were amazing.
Sarah Puckett was absolutely amazing! her best work yet! And that is saying something because she nails it every time.
Love love love this book!

Interesting

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This story was interesting in that the whole story was told by the narrator as if she is writing to a dead person. She goes through their whole life remembering things. The conclusion was good in that even after the pain she was able to find happiness with someone she knew from growing up. The narrator was good and spoke in a southern droll.

A Beautiful Love Story & Great Listen!🎧

Wow, LJ Evans writes and gives us an amazing & moving story, filled with love, friendship, laughs, drama, finding oneself, losing oneself and learning to live again. Great character development and storylines. I thought the leads, Cami & Jake, and their special relationship was awesome, as are many of the secondary characters. This is a beautiful that tugs at your heart, I highly recommend reading it & listening to the Audiobook. Do have tissues handy! LJ Evans, that you for this great story

I listened to the Audible edition, the narrator, Sarah Puckett delivers a superb performance!! Emotionally Wrenching!

Like Cammie in this story, I'm not the type to get blubbery or cry over things. This book had me blubbery though. It was such a beautifully portrayed story. I loved the way that the book was directed at Jake. It made the book more personal, more emotional. The narrator did a great job at adding emotional depth to the story as well. I would like to read the rest of this series. I'd like to read other books by this author as well. I fully recommend this book. Very beautiful.

So moving!

Wow! This book is so powerful and the narration is phenomenal. It's written as Cam talking to Jake, which at first threw me off but I quickly fell into it and was captured by the story. Theirs is a love story of epic proportions and all the little details that connected them in every way. While I loved the way we got to see them together right from the start and grow up together, I did feel like the beginning years were a little bit drawn out and slow moving. I think some of that could have been sped along a little bit more. The tie-ins to the Taylor Swift songs were great and because I'm a big fan, I had some much fun matching each chapter to her songs.

Sarah Puckett gave a great performance and I thought she had just the right amount of drawl and twang for the story, it reminded me SO much of my friend from South Dakota, I swear it could have been her talking. This is a heart wrenching but beautiful love story.

A Love Story with a Mighty Fine Tune

It has taken me a few days to gather myself and get it together. I’m not usually one who goes for sappy, cry my eyes out, however, when the opportunity presented itself, I’m glad I took it. My Life As a Country Album is the type of story that is both beautiful and tragic. It was a love to last throughout the ages, the type of love everyone searches for. Cam and Jake were meant to be together and as you read about how they went through life at each stage in their life, you get so emotionally invested that you end up at your desk crying and you can’t explain why. (Mostly because you’ve been crying too hard and you can’t speak, or too embarrassed to tell anyone why you’re you’re crying!)

You fall in love with Cam and Jake from the very beginning. They are absolutely relatable and adorable. LJ Evans is new to me and I have to say the writing was spectacular. Let’s not forget the narration by Sarah Puckett! She truly brings every character to life with personality and vulnerability. What also made this interesting is this story was told to the catalog of Taylor Swift. There were a few songs I wasn’t familiar with and this book made me intrigued enough to take a listen. I can’t wait to read the next one!

there are no words

this is a really difficult review to write, not because this book was bad but because it was SO good! this book had me hooked as soon as started it , not many books can do that, it really spoke to me and hit me right in the feels , possibly the best book I've ever had the pleasure of reading/listening , it starts off from Cam telling the story of her and Jake from when they were born, growing up together and how he made her, I don't want to give too much away but you have to listen to this book ! if someone asked me to recommend just one book , this would be it
I laughed, I cried, I couldn't stop smiling .
there are no words to how much I loved this book , it was beautiful.

This one made me big fat cry 😭😭😭😭

I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review.

Every once in a while a story comes along that just ruins you completely and you can't stop thinking about it. Well this one was that for me the story is epic following Cami & Jake, best friends from the moment Cami is born it follows friendship to love to tragedy. I will not give anything away but OMG this is one heck of a story I did not get much sleep listening. Sarah Puckett is perfect for the part I just love her southern twang she is such a talented narrator she makes it so easy for you to see the story in your head. I have never cried so much for a book my husband got worried at one point when he walked into the room and saw me crying my eyes out. Please give this one a listen it does not disappoint. Don't expect hot and heavy it's a full blown love story. I adored it.x

Spectacular

This is one of those books that needs to be savoured like a good scotch. I’ve read it once but listened twice; Sarah Puckett is just perfect as the narrator and her honeyed tones slide through this poignant story.
