Acerca de esta escucha

On this tour of Pompeii, a city preserved by a volcano in 79 AD, we'll walk the ancient streets remarkably like our own. We'll hear about that incredible August day, 1900 years ago, when ash rained down from Mount Vesuvius, turning the sky black and encasing Pompeii in a time capsule; stop at ancient cafeterias and bars; cross in Roman crosswalks; marvel at the mosaics, the frescoes, the still-brilliant colors; see the pipes that brought running water to homes and fountains; envy how the very rich lived; visit the baths and theatres, gardens and stores; view plaster casts of the citizens of Pompeii as they died; see a bakery, a laundry, a brothel, and ancient graffiti still clear on city walls; and stand where the Gladiators trained and where they fought in the first Roman Amphitheatre ever.To follow iJourney's Pompeii tour, download a pdf map and list of sights.©2005 iJourneys Escritos y Comentarios sobre Viajes

Interesting

Well, this certainly wasn’t what I was expecting. I thought that this would be far more descriptive and evocative. I absolutely would not listen to this as I was exploring the ruins of Pompeii.

It truly sounded as if a computer were narrating this book. Not worth the money I paid, in my opinion.

Sucks, Google Maps better

Got this for the trip of a lifetime to Pompeii. Big mistake. This caused nothing more than frustration and lost time. This book assumes that everyone will go through the same gate. We tried to follow the directions and actually ended up getting lead out of the site.

Poor use of walking time. It directs you to pause until you get to the next spot. The guide then meanders through background information it could have delivered while you were walking. So, you then have the dilemma of choosing to stand there like an idiot and listen to the book or try to walk and look at the stuff you came to look at. Walk right or left? You won’t find out until the rant is over and then find out that you went the wrong way. And try to get back on course, you won’t stay there. I’ve gotten better directions from a drunken monkey to the library.

This guide was very disappointing and truly a waste of time. Google Maps was much better.
