Zuma’s Magical Balloon is a gentle, enchanting story about love, loss, and the invisible threads that keep us connected to the people we miss. Written in honor of my son Kingston, who passed away from brain cancer at nine years old, this book is a reminder that love doesn’t disappear. It changes shape. It finds new ways to stay.

Zuma loves balloons. Every color. Every shape. But one balloon feels different. It glows. It shimmers. It seems to carry a heartbeat of its own. No matter where Zuma goes, the balloon follows, guiding her, comforting her, and helping her feel brave in a world that suddenly feels too big.

When the wind finally pulls the balloon toward the sky, Zuma learns what so many of us learn the hard way. Letting go doesn’t mean losing. Sometimes letting go is the moment love shows up in a new form.

This story is for kids navigating big feelings, for families grieving someone they adore, and for anyone who needs a reminder that the people we love never truly leave us. They show up in signs, in moments, in flickers of magic we feel more than see.

A heartfelt blend of imagination and healing, Zuma’s Magical Balloon offers comfort, hope, and the kind of magic that only love can create.

The narrator is incredible. Her voice is so soothing and steady, the kind that makes you feel safe listening. The story itself is very age appropriate and does a beautiful job explaining loss and grief to kids in a way that feels honest without being overwhelming. The words are gentle, thoughtful, and clear. I loved it so much that I ordered the paperback so I could read along with the pictures, which are absolutely gorgeous. This is one of those rare books that feels comforting for both kids and adults.
