Acerca de esta escucha

The year is 2011, and what starts as a pervasive and inexplicable illness ends up as a zombie infestation that devastates the world's population. Taking the form of a biologist's journal found in the aftermath of the attack, this pulse-pounding, suspenseful tale of zombie apocalypse follows the narrator as he flees from city to countryside and heads north to Canada, where he hopes the undead will be slowed by the colder climate. Encountering scattered humans and scores of the infected along the way, he fills his notebook with descriptions and careful observations of zombie behavior, along with terrifying tales of survival.

This frightening contribution to the massively popular zombie resurgence will keep fans on the edge of their seats right up to the very end.

Excellent scientific study of life during, and immediately following the zombie appocalypse. I wish it had been longer.

Scientific treatise on zombie appocalypse

It's an interesting take on a zombie apocalypse and I enjoyed it from start to finish. I hope that Dr. Twombly was able to take a moment to look at Norma and say 'Ha! Ha! Told you so' at the end. Not very mature but that's what ran through my mind.
The narrator did a great job of portraying a nervous/anxiety ridden person surviving the end of the world. I've listened to some other books that he narrated and he is very good at making you believe he's that character throughout regardless of how different the character he's portraying in each book.

Great individual zombie surviver viewpoint

Story is good if you can get past the narrator smacking his lips and hard swallowing.

Too much lip smacking

How fun! I will keep my green eyes wide open for more of this new author (new to me). Gets your attention and keeps it.

This was a good story. it was much different from what I thought it was supposed to be, but it was enjoyable. I listened to it while I was doing dishes and I'd find myself just standing there listening to my book. it was short and quick..

Different from what I expected

I really enjoyed this audio. The use of "recordings" fits well with the audio book format and the duration is totally appropriate. I recommend it to anyone who likes zombie stories.

Better than expected

Somewhat interesting, given the speculated cause of the outbreak. Otherwise, nothing really new here. Zombies have saturated movies, tv, and books to the point where many of the plots have been overly played out. Look at TWD. It is one example of a zombie-related series that has long since spun a tired trope of zombies, the end of civilization, and the emergence of bad people (no longer inhibited by civil masses) doing very bad things. I stopped watching it several seasons ago because of its lack of hope and abundance of predictability. Also, more commercials than the actual show. But I digress, again, I only mention it as an example of how these sorts of end of civilization plots have been overdone.

Thankfully, this was just long enough to keep my interest (less than 2 hours) but not so long as to discourage me from listening/reading it. Had just enough characters to keep it interesting; everyone with their own short story to tell of how they too weathered wave after wave of the undead/infected.

I listened to the audio version. I kept listening after a while simply because it was just entertaining enough and a short audio freebie. Having finished it, I likely would not have bought this one though. Audiobook wise, the narrator did an okay job. You work with what you get. And some recordings opened with the same "[insert safe space] is gone, [*gasp*, near tears]." I would have liked more background on the other characters to spice up the journal entries. The reader notes doodling images in the diary but we can't see them, nor is there an included pdf of said images for reference.

Predicable Zombie Journal

A great "what if" scenario of a apocalypse. I really like the style this book what told in. The recording was so realistic. I only wish there were more books like this.

Great!

It's a quick listen, so it's worth the small time investment. The characters aren't really developed, so I had more affection for the dog than the narrator.

Ok, but World War Z is better
