A fun tromp through the woods

What made the experience of listening to Zombie Bigfoot the most enjoyable?

Nick Sullivan's theatre background shone through via the multitudes of colorful characters from the youngest Bigfoot to the toothy millionaire. I imagined what it was like during the Golden Age of Radio, listening to a mystery serial, ears glued to the RCA Victor radio. This audio book was my companion during the morning and evening commute every work day and I found myself taking the scenic route home just to find out how the characters were going to get out of their latest bind.

What other book might you compare Zombie Bigfoot to and why?

This book reminded me of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. An exciting page turner with lots of gore I don't necessarily need to see on screen but in print, it's fun to read.

Which character – as performed by Nick Sullivan – was your favorite?

Bright Eyes was my favorite. Nick Sullivan made this Sasquatch so human and real, I really wished there was a Bright Eyes out there in the wilderness.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Plenty of chuckles abounded!

If you're looking for a fun, easy to read or listen thriller, this is it! Very much looking forward to the follow-up!

Great Campfire Tale

What made the experience of listening to Zombie Bigfoot the most enjoyable?

Nick Sullivan's narration and his story were both stellar.

ZOMBIE BIGFOOT isn't trying to disguise itself as literary fiction as you can tell by the title. What it promises with that shadowy cover and its campy title is creature-feature fun and it delivers that in spades!

Sarah, a woman whose father spent a good deal of his life trying to prove that the Sasquatch exists, is now spending her time trying to do the same. Her dad did eventually meet a member of the Bigfoot family when he was injured during one of his solo expeditions. Unfortunately, although he survived his injury with a Bigfoot's help, he returned to civilization with no real proof of it, and he became the object of scorn among his peers. Sarah has now returned to the area where her father documented his encounter with a team of her own and all of the latest technology to capture any discoveries they might find. Will they finally find evidence that Bigfoot actually exists? You will have to read this to find out!

I expected this book to be more fluffy than it actually was, and that was a pleasant surprise. With a cast of characters that ranged from a television survivalist, a billionaire explorer, a Shwarzenegger-like body guard and a native American tracker/guide-there were plenty of personalities and events to keep the reader occupied.

Even though the beginning got off to a bit of a slow start, it felt like the author began to really hit his stride once the action got going. Somehow it seemed to come through that he was having a lot of fun and that point is where the reader started having fun too.

Sprinkled with humor throughout, (like referencing those hilarious beef jerky commercials), ZOMBIE BIGFOOT doesn't take itself too seriously, while delivering more than what this reader expected from your average tale of this nature.

Recommended for fans of creature-features!

Get this book

I figured this would be sort of silly with the title, but the reviews convinced me to buy it and boy, am I glad I did. This was a GREAT story, with a great narrator. I’ve loved many books narrated by Nick Sullivan, and I was excited to listen to one that he had also written. Definitely a great decision to purchase this, and I hope he keeps writing more in this series!

Not As Bad as The Title Implies...Really!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes and the friend would not have to be a zombie or bigfoot fan. It's not Shakespeare (its not supposed to be) but it will hold your attention, entertain and give you a chuckle or two. Frankly, I laughed out loud a couple of times. There are several nods to other books and action flicks but it is not a cheesy mess. I thought the human characters could have used some more development but overall it was a good book and not quite what I expected. I am so looking forward to the next creature quest tale. Oh, and if you're wondering about the narration, it was great.

Are you saying they’re some sort of Zombie Bigfoot

"Wait… are you saying they’re some sort of Zombie Bigfoot?"

Zombie Bigfoot is one of those stories that will stick with me. The characters, both human, and bigfoot had so much depth that I wouldn't be surprised if there are more stories that revolve around them. The scenery and scene setting was perfect -- to the point where it felt like Sullivan has been writing adventure novels for years.

It was also one of those hard to pin down stories. I believe that the main genre was Adventure. It had Adventure undertones throughout (looking for a Bigfoot). I would put this up with the adventure greats Preston & Child and David Wood (Dane Maddock & Bones). It had all of the enjoyable elements that I love, but it also added in a ton more. Elements of horror and comedy were also throughout Zombie Bigfoot and done extremely well. One minute I was laughing and the next I was cringing in fear or horror.

The narration is really what tops everything off. Nick Sullivan is a veteran audiobook narrated with hundreds of titles to his name. And after a few minutes listening to him you quickly know why. The narration was perfect. You can definitely tell that Sullivan wrote this book with the intent of recording the audiobook. It was developed perfectly for audio, the scenes and jumps between characters weren't every 2 minutes and were well thought out and explained. Each character had the voice that the author wanted.

In all honesty, I had to take a day to gather my thoughts because I didn't want to write a review that felt like it was complete hyperbole. I was able to tame some of my thoughts down, but honestly, this was just such a great story that I hope that people pick it up based on my review.

My only warning to readers/listeners is that this book does get a little gory from time to time. When the said zombie bigfoot attacks it does NOT hold back. If you're extremely sensitive to overly descriptive death scenes, then you have been warned. But as I mentioned before, a lot of the time only a few paragraphs back I was laughing at different things going on, so the gore to no-gore value is still high.

The funny thing is that this book could have gone numerous different ways. Sullivan could have completely removed the "zombie" aspect of it and it still would have been enjoyable. Sure, it would have changed some of the later interactions between characters, but the story was so well written that it still would have been good.

To Nick: please keep writing. You have a gift -- actually two gifts: you can write a darn fine story that I think could compete with the greats in a few genres AND you can narrate the heck out of a story.

Great Mashup

I know I’m not as well read as many, but I think it’s a fairly unique story. Which links two of my favorite subjects, BigFoot and Zombies. I thought it was a little predictable, (so 4 not 5 Stars) but otherwise really enjoyable. It’s not deep, which I don’t think it was meant to be. It’s a fun short listen. It’s devoid of woke nonsense! Which I sincerely appreciate. I don’t want to be preached to. I like my entertainment to be an momentary escape. This is really good for that. The narrator is excellent. Right voice to make all the characters, male, female, creatures, distinct and believable. I hope you enjoy it as well. God Bless!
