Publisher's summary

Alex, a ten-month-old girl with albinism, is stolen from her mother's arms and raised by adoptive parents in Southern California. Seth, born a black Jew in rural Ethiopia, is flown to Israel during Operation Solomon to begin a new life at the age of ten. Kaj, raised in a small, impoverished village in Tanzania, is apprenticed to his healer/witch doctor grandfather until he learns that the old man has fallen in with a crime syndicate. The life journeys of these three disparate characters come together in a thrilling and emotional climax in Zeru Zeru Girl.

Absorbing unique story full of insights

I really enjoyed this book because it brought to life the experiences of people who are not very visible— struggles of albino people in Africa and its connection with ancient witchcraft traditions and prejudices and Ethiopian Jews. Its depiction of life in the Israeli army, law school in the US and international human rights work was very real.
