Story
Each of us has but one life to live on this earth. What we do with it is our choice. Are we drifting through it as spectators, reacting to our circumstances when necessary and wondering just how we got to this point anyway? Or are we directing it, maximizing the joy and potential of every day, living with a purpose or mission in mind? Too many of us are doing the former - and our lives are slipping away one day at a time. But what if we treated life like the gift that it is? What if we lived each day as though it was part of a bigger picture, a plan?

Story
Most organizations and individuals work in the context of annual goals and plans; a 12-month execution cycle. Instead, The 12 Week Year avoids the pitfalls and low productivity of annualized thinking. This book redefines your "year" to be 12 weeks long. In 12 weeks, there just isn't enough time to get complacent, and urgency increases and intensifies. The 12 Week Year creates focus and clarity on what matters most and a sense of urgency to do it now. In the end more of the important stuff gets done and the impact on results is profound.

Do you ride the escalator or do you take the stairs? No matter how you define success, it always requires one thing: self-discipline. But as popular speaker and strategist Rory Vaden explains, we live in an "escalator world", one that's filled with shortcuts, quick fixes, and distractions that make it all too easy to slide into procrastination, compromise, and mediocrity. What seems like an easier path is really much harder in the end - and, most important, it won't take you where you want to go.

Doesn’t make a good audio book (IMO)
This book is a blueprint for setting good goals. While pretty “goal setting 101”, its always good to have a refresher, and I’ll get the print version of the book for doing just that...that said, from my perspective, the tools and techniques suggested here would be easier to follow in written form to readily reference the various steps suggested in forming, reviewing, and achieving goals. While the book references an online library with such information, the site contains only a simple 2-page example of a goal. It would be helpful (and the book would receive 5 stars) if it contained a PDF as do other similar audiobooks (or if the online site contained the information the book suggests it contains).

Don't Make Another Goal Without This Book!
I listened to the entire book while taking notes within the last 24 hours! I couldn't wait for the book to be released so I could consume the information right away and attack my 2018 goals. Michael Hyatt's system really is the missing link to effective goal setting. It's a system I wish I had learned back in elementary school. Now that I know where I went wrong with goal setting, I can make corrections. I now have a renewed focus and direction for creating a solid, daily, weekly and quarterly action plan for this year. I look forward to rejoicing in my victories both big and small! Thank you Michael.

good book
I liked this book a lot, I am interested to see what the bonus materials bring.
I like how it is laid out, wouldn't say it is a ton of new information if you are already into goal setting but it is good for maybe giving you a new way of laying out your goals and definitely some motivation as well.
narrator was also very good.
I have listened to it twice already and will probably listen to it again in the future to be reminded of some of the finer points.

Use this simple 74 stage system to feel worse
Every one of these dudes has an infallible system. This one lets us sail through goal setting to our best year yet, apparently.
By the 27th step I was exhausted just trying to remember what each contrived letter in the acronym was. The delivery is honeyed American cookie voice-over style and the content refers to prayer and God more than I could stomach.
The advice is contradictory to other goal-setting books and falls into the "unwieldy system" category. Only adopt it if you are resilient enough to reach over-ambitious goals.

I Learned So Much From This Book
I'm a mess. Anyone who knows me knows that I cannot, for the life of me, achieve even the simplest of goals. (Shrug) I don't know, I'm just all over the place. I listened to this book 3 times (I really like to commit important things to memory), and then I created a S.M.A.R.T. goal for myself and thereafter used the After Action Review on it. Omg, omg. I was actually successful and REACHED my goal! I'm so so happy for this book I could marry Mr Hyatt bear his children. (I hope his wife doesn't see this). I'm on my fourth S.M.A.R.T. goal since I bought this book, and, yes, I recommend it highly - not just for sad, hopeless, non-goal-achieving human beings like me, but anyone and everyone out there. (Seriously? He ought to pay me for this review)...

Wrong information threw me off
There were more than a few errors early in the book about accomplishments of people I knew to be incorrect that threw me off. Then towards the end he started talking about the principles of “eat that frog” saying that to accomplish things you do the easiest thing first, which is completely contrary to what eat that frog even means. Was a waste to me.
