Publisher's Summary

If "Who am I?" is the question you're asking, Rachel Jankovic doesn't want you to "find yourself" or "follow your heart". Those lies are nothing to the confidence, freedom, and clarity of purpose that come with knowing what is actually essential about you. And the answer to that question is at once less and more than what you are hoping for.

Christians love the idea that self-expression is the essence of a beautiful person, but that's a lie, too. With trademark humor and no-nonsense practicality, Rachel Jankovic explains the fake story of the self, starting with the inventions of a supremely ugly man named Sartre (rhymes with "blart"). And we - men and women, young and old - have bought his lie of the best self, with terrible results.

Thankfully, that's not the end of our story; You Who: Why You Matter and How to Deal with It takes the identity question into the nitty-gritty details of everyday life. Here's the first clue: Stop looking inside, and start planting flags of everyday faithfulness. In Christianity, the self is always a tool and never a destination.

A must read

Listen to this book. And then listen to it again! You may not agree with everything the author says, but let me encourage you to listen anyway. We as women should not be afraid to hear hard things. To hear things that we need to really chew on. It was refreshing to have a female author giving it to me straight and challenging me to take a honest look at my thoughts, heart and emotions and see if they are in alignment with the word of God. Cheers to her for having the courage to speak to us like we are strong enough women to handle strong words. And cheers to her for calling us out where we have been weak.

Truth

The Lord has used this book to open my eyes, call me further up and further in, and has made me no longer content to live as a child of the King who has been okay with surviving off crumbs from His table. I see fully the table set before me and I am over joyed to take my rightful seat with my Father in Heaven. Let's eat!

Game changer

This book flies in the face of the current false gospel of women’s empowerment. It’s badly needed in this time of ‘You.’ May God bless Rachel Jankovic for this book-

Changed my whole perspective!

This book was very eye opening. Every christian woman needs to read this one! The more we are in Christ, the more we become our true selves. It's so freeing to not have to strive to create oneself.

Exactly what women need to know!

Ever wonder why you feel the way you do? Ever care to change your outlook on “me” or “self”? Have a “I am enough” attitude? Rachel pinpoints all there is through scripture in solid truths, it might sting, but “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”” ‭‭John‬ ‭8:32‬ We were created as the workmanship of the Father, He has set us here to bring Him glory. This book will remind you over and over again how loved you are by the Creator, yet convict you to remain in His ways, not set on this world and it’s ways. Rachel does well as she directs us to the Lord, this book is everything every woman needs to hear. I suggest this to anyone who truly longs to serve our Lord.

Highly recommend ...

... for every Christian navigating the deep water of life in 2019. YouWho is an incredibly thought-provoking and clarifying work on practical Christian living in the current culture. Rachel is winsome and wise, hilarious and honest. The content is so helpful in peeling back the layers to see where (and how badly) we've veered from fundamental Truth, and to return our focus to Christ. Poor folks around me know that I cannot stop talking about it! I loved the audio book so much, that I also bought a paper copy.

If you’re a Christian, do your “self” a favor and read this book. I’ll be rereading it regularly.
