Not my cup of tea

It's not bad. I just found it difficult to pay attention. Subjective more than anything.

Good book if interested in the niche he discusses

This is a good book if you’re interested in profiting from bankruptcies, mergers, acquisitions and spinoffs. If not, then it’s not an appropriate book for you.

Overall the reader was entertaining and the information interesting.

needs an update

all examples are from pre-1994. even discussion about research is all pre-internet! needs a revision like most great books.

I had high hopes of this book

this work is highly recommended by several experts. however it's sort of difficult to follow and it's advanced not intermediate or beginner level. the author does point out some opportunities however there is no proof on the data particularly when you get to spin offs today for example there are ETF spinoff funds that don't beat the market as one of the many example of the books fallacies.

apologize for the grammar because my summary was a voice to text

Great for experienced investors

I recommend this book for anyone who already has down the fundamentals of investing. This book dives into much more advanced topics such as spin-off opportunities And special corporate circumstances. If you’re new to investing I highly recommend you read other more basic investing books first. There’s lots of great information in here and you will discover many new ways to find investment opportunities. Highly recommended for the advanced investor.

Educational, easy to grasp

Loved Greenblatt's humor all throughout. He's far from another "hot tip" talking head.

Ross was a pleasure to listen to!

Special opportunity investing

No magic formula here. Highlights interesting places where opportunities can be found: spin offs, restructures, acquisitions. So, this title is not for complete beginners to investing although good resources are provided to brush up on the basics.

Some of the research resources are dated but the Wall Street Journal is still around, and according to the author that is all you need to find opportunities. That and extra work to understand those special situations. Hopefully everyone is not now looking just at these special situations!

Easy to listen to and comprehensible concepts.
