Publisher's summary

Rade and his team of ex-military personnel pursue a Phant to a destroyed world on the far side of the galaxy.

They soon discover the planet isn't as dead as they believed. Their target hides within a massive nest inhabited by aliens appearing to belong to Tech Class I - barely out of the stone ages. Rade elects to go ahead with the operation. The team enters the nest to capture the prey.

But what begins as a simple infiltration and extraction mission soon turns into a living nightmare.

Trapped beneath an alien world, surrounded by hostile lifeforms, and fighting for their very lives, Rade and his team quickly realize the roles have reversed. They are no longer the hunters.

Instead, they have become the prey.

Luke Daniels: Best Ever Argonauts Narrator

*Spoiler Alert*
What makes Luke Daniels great is that EVERY character, no matter how small, gets a DIFFERENT voice and personality all to their own. Gotta hand it to Luke Daniels, this has to be the best performance for an audiobook I’ve ever heard. It’s motherfreakin’ incredible how he switches through all the different members of the Argonauts team on the fly, as they are having detailed, interesting, often hilarious, conversations. Of course this would all not be possible without having a rock solid story and characters to begin with: thanks Isaac Hooke! I personally loved how the story includes a collection of unique aliens, artificials, and tech, and their interactions with the Argonauts. Hooke manages to include an incredible array of things, and everything is jam packed together, but not rushed through in any way. Definitely the best Audible audiobook performance I’ve ever heard thus far!

Good book, better narration

Well another awesome story with top notch narration. I feel Raid at the end. I felt sorry for the King and Queen, I guess they have each other for the next thousand years. Not too many stories make me feel sorry for the bad guys, this one did. The King and Queen were cunning, I mean they pulled off some slick traps from the rubble to the gas giant body swap. Luke did his usual outstanding performance. Character voices were diverse with enough variation you forget it's coming from 1 guy. Overall, a solid 5 out 5 with medium stories that get right to the point.

Good book to listen to

I enjoyed the book although it was not as good as the first book. The characters were really interesting and the stories were really good.

liked the mix of possible Science and Fantasy

Loved the thought put into how or why a problem was solved or needed to be avoided, even the safety codes in space.

Better than most

Characters are a bit basic, but it’s got a great story that I could see being in a video game. Luke Daniels as always brings the performance home, wish there was more explanation on what the aliens are and how some goo made technology at all to become interstellar, but that seems to a mystery so far as I’ve got.

Also I would of called the gator Beatles “crocroach”.

Better than the first

After the first book I was unsure if I would continue the series because it was a hard "meh" but I got this after getting a jones for sci-fi.

There's a hilarious part where the book goes more meta than a D&D player, and one part with such well written dialog that I, a 33 year old man, got choked up at work. It's a significant step up from the first imo and guarantees that I continue.

With that said, it isn't perfect. The narrator is hit or miss and seems to mispronounce words, although I cant tell without any sort of print to reference. The story still has a hundred and one cliches and the plot armor is reaaaalllll. A solid 4/5 all around

GOOD.

Rade and his team get into deep waters when they encountered the phant with an alien species in space.mgreat action and dialogue among the team makes an interesting listening. Luke Daniels performed superbly with his different voices for all the characters. Isaac Hooke have a fantastic storyline in this series. Well worth the listening.

Book 2.

I do slime the story. It does seem this crew could be funnier, I mean they still sidetrack like high school football players but it's still a fun ride that I enjoyed
