Publisher's Summary

After 15 years of her husband never having time for her, Lindy Coats moves with her teenaged daughter to their summer cottage on the shores of Lake Michigan outside the town of Blueberry Beach.

She doesn't want a divorce, she just wants...something. Something more than being a single mom yet doing a man's laundry.

With a lonely single dad on one side of her, a crochety old business owner on the other and a young mother with terrible secrets and a son fighting leukemia across the road, it doesn’t take Lindy long to discover that learning to enjoy life is less about what she chooses to do for herself and more about what she chooses to do for others.

As she sinks into the small town atmosphere, healing her soul and excited at a new business opportunity, her ex shows up, wanting to reconcile.

Can she decide between her bright tomorrow or come to see the values of yesterday’s treasures?

Enjoy this delightful, heartwarming beach read today!

Wonderful read

This was such a good book. They characters were so real and made you feel like you were right there with them. I could feel the wife's pain of feeling lost and overlooked. I thought it was awesome that the husband didn't take a self righteous attitude, but he humbled himself and sought to win his wife back. The wisdom that the minister had to share was so good.

Truly a beautiful story of forgiveness and love and rededication to your marriage.

I received a free audio copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving this review.

Not the usual trope: Clean, middle-aged romance

Story: 5 stars

*this review has spoilers*

I loved this book!  I loved that the main characters are older (think High School-aged daughter). They are dealing with a situation that can so easily happen in marriage: neglect. They’ve been married 20 years and he’s a workaholic and neglects his family horribly. She finally leaves him and takes their daughter.

I was fine with Lindy leaving as a last resort to feeling so unwanted. It was an interesting twist that she had no desire to divorce Adam; she just didn’t want to have his neglect so blaring and present in her (and her daughter’s) life.

It was an interesting premise. In the world of romance, this type of situation usually involves finding a new love interest.

I felt that the author did a good job of giving Adam time to learn humility and giving Lindy the time she needed before she was ready to take a chance and recommit. It was a touching book and felt more relevant to my age range than the younger romances feel to me (even though I’ll always love those)!

It looks like most of the people in this series are going to be older and am eager to read the whole series. I was crying during the epilogue (which, in true Jessie Gussman tradition, introduces the next book on the series.)

Narration: 5 stars

I read the book and then, when it was released, listened to it. Wow. Jay Dyess brought this book and all the emotions to life. It was such a poignant book and yet as hope is slowly allowed by the protagonists, Mr. Dyess' voice reflects the new and changing emotions. And, yes, as with the first time reading, there were tears during the epilogue...

Blueberry Beach sounds like a wonderful place!

Marriage isn't just something that takes care of itself, and our main characters find this out the hard way. Ms. Gussman has given us a beautiful example of real life marriage and the things that can build it or break it down. This is a beautiful story that showcases how men and women should love each other. I really enjoyed listening to it and as usual Mr. Dyess does a wonderful job of bringing it to life.
I received a free download of this book from the publisher to listen to on Audible.com. This review is my own honest opinion.

An amazing love story

This is the most amazing love story! A story of love almost lost because of unintentional neglect. But love is found again by love shown by actions. Jessie Gussman's characters jump right off the page and into the reader's heart. Jay Dyess brings Adam's and Lindy's story to life with his wonderful heart felt narration. I highly recommend this audiobook.

I can’t recommend this highly enough!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Such a poignant sweet story. It pulls at your heartstrings told in the inimitable style of Jessie Gussman and brought to life by jay Dyess. These two talents complement each other so well. If only Blueberry Beach was a real town with the loving people in it. They definitely are not perfect, but they have learned how to show true charity in its purest sense.

Not read a story like this one before now

I think this is a very well-written story. I have not read a story that deals with the wife's loneliness, her decision to leave the marriage (not wanting a divorce) & move to start a new life with her daughter. That move made her husband discover how much his marriage was on the rocks & he didn't like it one bit. Fortunately, he decides he wants his wife & life with her back so makes a drastic move to where she is to achieve that goal. Jay Dyess does his usual excellent job reading the story which always thrills me to listen to. I received a free copy. I am leaving this voluntary review.
