Publisher's summary

A charmingly funny testament to second chances in life and love from the acclaimed author of Whistlin’ Dixie in a Nor’easter.

Lisa Patton won the hearts of readers with her book Whistlin’ Dixie in a Nor’easter, which became a sleeper-success. Building on a smashing debut, Lisa’s poised to go to the next level—because whether in Vermont snow or in Memphis heat, Dixie heroine Leelee Satterfield is never too far from misadventure, calamity—and ultimately, love.

Having watched her life turn into a nor’easter, 34-year-old Leelee Satterfield is back home in the South, ready to pick back up where she left off. But that’s a task easier said than done. Leelee, a single mom, still dreaming of the Vermonter who stole her heart, and accompanied by her three best friends who pepper her with advice, nudging, and peach daiquiris, opens another restaurant and learns she has to prove herself yet again. Fans of women’s fiction will delight in this novel filled with heart and humor.

Critic reviews

“Southern to the core…funny to the bone. In Lisa Patton’s new novel she proves that we can go home again, and in many cases we should.” (Fannie Flagg, New York Times best-selling author)

Loved this one...why did you switch narrators?!?

Any additional comments?

I love this series, so cute. I'm writing this here as a warning for the next book. I actually returned the 3rd book in this series because they switched the narrator from Marguerite Gavin, who did a fantastic job, to Lisa Patton, who should stick to writing. The narration was so bad I couldn't finish the book. Why, oh why, would you switch narrators on the 3rd book of a series?? Bless your heart!

Funny book.

I loved the southern charm. The therapist was exactly right her explanation for a southern woman. Luckily they're getting a little better about thinking of themselves last. It was a good story. Sweet friends that are always there for you.

I preffered the narrator from the 1rst 2 books .

I absolutely enjoyed this trilogy, but I wish this book had the same narrator as the first 2. The author did great writing the story, but she ruined the character of Peter as a narrator. Her " character accent" made him sound more like he had "Wiley's' speech impediment to me.

Repeat

I enjoyed this book, one thing I need to say is that there was so much repetition from the first book it kept making me loose interest. There is a third book but I wonder if it will be more of the same???

75% of this story had nothing to do at all with the promo & I for one don’t appreciate it!

After reading the first book in the series which was decent, I read the blurb for this one hoping for something a little better. Then you have to listen to the immature interactions of women who think more like teenagers than mid-30 year old women. And to top it off, the implied story that was promised doesn’t even materialize until the very last chapter. Waste of time in my opinion!

Love me some LeeLee

Enjoy the southern charm. I’m a northerner myself. So I loved the first book when the main character was in Vermont. Had to follow her shenanigans back to Memphis. I started in North Dakota and then I found myself in Tennessee. So I feel a bit of a reverse kinship to her.

LeeLee strikes again

Book 2 of this series brings LeeLee back to Memphis. Did she learn anything in Vermont? At times it seems so but she easily falls back into old patterns. The usual cast of characters returns to support her. My favorite character is Kissy, the elderly caretaker! She's a hoot! I'm not sure the introduction of the nosey neighbor or the rock star really contribute to the story, but there they are! Great travel book even tho its somewhat predictable in the romance realm. One piece of advice: Read the series from the beginning.

Not as good as the first book in this series

I liked Whistlin Dixie in a Nor’easter, so I tried this second book in the series. I found it to be trite and with parts of the story extraneous to the plot. It felt like the author was filling space with some of the side stories - like she had an ending in mind and just needed to fill enough pages to make it a novel.

As with the original book, I was not enamored if the narrator who speaks with exclamations and pauses in odd places. She’s ok (or I would not have listened to a second book), but definitely not someone I’d look for again.

I don’t be listening to or reading the third book in this series.

A great story and a great narrator

I enjoyed so much reading a story about normal human interactions with no fighting, killing, or descriptions of sex. And the narrator does a great job changing voices between characters…and I love her southern accent!

A beautiful powerful story for women

This is the second book in the series and although it could stand on its own, you miss such profound backstory. I really love this series and I believe a lot of women can relate to the heroin in it. And the female supports are hilarious and charming. You just want to be part of the friendship; you fall in love with them. I highly recommend!
