In my top ten list of favorite books

I Want to listen to it all over again from the beginning. Loved the character development and storyline.

good story

This is a slowly meandering but good story with a sweet ending. It takes a bit to understand the story's purpose, but once it clicks then the story keeps the reader/listener engaged just to see how it ends.

The narration is good even though there is not a lot of differentiation between character voices. That fact doesn't detract from the story, and it is still relatively easy to determine which character is speaking.

Overall it is worth the time to listen.

this is the perfect book to curl up with, romance, mystery, adventure, but wonderfully ordinary and real.

Just couldn't connect

What could Emily Hemmer have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I thought the main character whined too much and I simply couldn't relate to her.

Better than Expected

As the story began I feared it might be just another mushy romance. But it has an interesting plot, well drawn characters, and a good, unhurried end.
I also found the narrator to be quite good.

Couldn't stop listening!

The story itself is beautiful, I never thought I could enjoy an audio book as much as I did. Excellent reading paired with a beautiful story and I'm sad that it has come to an end.

She Wrote the Wrong Story

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The main characters, Wynn and Oliver, were kind of pathetic. She is a weak woman who needs a man--an old high school crush. Really? That it materialized in a lack-luster romance disappointed me. I really didn't like either of them.

Which character – as performed by Jorjeana Marie – was your favorite?

The great-grandmother's story is where the intrigue lies. I loved her story and wanted more of the book to focus on her. The setting of prohibition was romantic and interesting. The Wynn/Oliver story interrupted and I wanted to rush through it to get to the better storyline.

What a great book.

I loved this tale so much I am actually taking time to write a review versus just submitting stars. Great life lessons as you listen. I cried so hard towards the end for the missed opportunities of 1 character's unforgiveness.
The story does end on a happy note in the end. Very very good.
