Publisher's summary

Do you want to write more novels? Maybe you're having trouble finding time to write in a busy, jam-packed week.

Maybe you're exhausted when you do manage to carve out some time to write.

Or maybe, when you’ve got the time and energy, you either waste time and then wonder where the day went… or you face a blank page, unable to type “anything decent.”

Pinpoint what’s stopping you - and find real solutions.

Write Every Day is specifically geared for fiction authors who are juggling busy home lives, work lives, and the new pressures to “build a platform” while simultaneously producing more books.

Instead of rote advice (i.e. “just get your butt in the chair and write”) it gives clear instructions for zeroing in on what’s really preventing you from writing, and then offers a selection of simple suggested solutions to carve out more time, get more focus, and gently dissolve writer’s block.

Similar to other books in the Rock Your Writing series, Write Every Day takes a wealth of resource material and distills it down into one clear, helpful approach.

Get that novel done!

Good ideas for getting on track. I've published two books in ten years. Now some ideas and inspiration to pick up the pace and get going. I must become a calendar junkie!

Practical, Quick and Dirty. Also funny.

I'm already a fan of Cathy Yardley. this is a gentle, small book stuffed with great info and exercises. no blame-y boot camp vibe here. just actual suggestions to help you get the work done.

Great book

I wasn't sure what I would get purchasing this book. I was incredibly surprised by how good this book was to read and the presented ideas. I just recommended this book to an artist friend who has the same complaints as many writers. I think this book goes beyond just "writing advise." I think the suggestions here translate to much of life's endeavors.

practical advice for struggling writers

Loved it. Practical advice for people struggling to overcome a slump or get past their fear of putting down words. Great addition to the series.

not as good as expected.

professional narrator might help make the story more fun. The sound is too sleepy to concentrate.

common sense and encouraging

I have read and listen to a number of Cathy's books about writing. I recommend them because she asks the questions we writers struggle with, and her solutions are common sense.
This is a good book to listen to or read when you're kind of stuck. She also list resources that are also very helpful and I have read or listen to.
I do recommend this book.

this is the 3rd or 4th time I've read this book

I keep coming back and rereading or actually really listening to this book because it is just so helpful I've read a number of the things your references but her ability to distill the best takeaway ideas and integrate them into a system with components that address different types of writing blocks and some of the things we can do to make ourselves more efficient is just amazing. highly highly recommended. Thank you so much Kathy.

Helpful and Motivational

What did you love best about Write Every Day?

This book is for all writers regardless of career level. I felt as if the author was speaking to me personally. Three of the four obstacles really hit home for me. 1. Time and not having enough of it or not managing it well. 2. Energy and not having enough and not managing it well. 3. Process and not being aware of what works for you.

I was impressed with this audio book. The message, suggestions and advice were on POINT. I've even purchased Rock Your Plot.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Write Every Day?

OMGreatness. In the section on support network, I found myself saying "YEP, Yep, and YEP." So agree with the author. Avoid the energy vampires.

Have you listened to any of Cathy Yardley’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first Cathy Yardley performance. She was awesome. I'm an avid audible listener. In my humble opinion, she is MUCH better than some of the other narrators. Cathy could moonlight doing voice work. Yes, she was that food.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to listen in one sitting, however I was taking detail notes so it took me two sittings to complete.

I didn't think it was going to make a difference,

but it was part of the Rock Your Writing books that I love, so I bought it. Was I ever wrong. This is a book I'll return to for focus and inspiration when I'm floundering in my writing. The section on fear alone is worth the price of the book. Also, I like that Cathy Yardley reads it. It makes me feel as if I'm talking with a friend. (No, I don't know the author)
