Publisher's Summary

From HiJinks Ink Publishing and Shannon Mayer comes Wounded, book 8 in the USA Today best-selling Rylee Adamson novels. With over 1.5 million books sold, Shannon Mayer proves once again she can dominate her genre right out of the gate.

"My name is Rylee, and I am a Tracker."

When children go missing and the humans have no leads, I'm the one they call. I am their last hope in bringing home the lost ones. I salvage what they cannot.

The clock is ticking, and I can feel the weight of the final battle with the demon hordes looming over my head. The puzzle pieces are becoming clearer, but the casualty list is growing. And with each name that is added to those we've lost, my confidence cracks a little more.

Yet there is hope. A child saved. A life lost. A prophecy fulfilled.

Narrator change!

Very upset that the narrator had been changed in the middle of three series! 7 books in and the 8th had a different narrator it ruined the book for me. Unfortunately to make it worse she's not as good with voices and she destroys the characters personalities.

I can't believe we got a new narrator!

So disappointing to get a new narrator so late in the series. The new voice gave us a new character, not the badass and crass heroine we were used to, and lets not talk about Alex! He is not as funny anymore. It's not that the narrator is bad, just that the voice and the way the book is now narrated does not correlate with Rylee's character.

I don't like the new narrator

I hated how this ended. I was hoping it wouldn't happen, but it did. I also don't like the new narrator. Why would you change the voices so near the end of the series? Even though it wasn't my favorite book, I will continue to listen to find out how things end. I've invested too much time and money to quit now

Thank GOD!! They changed the Narrator! YES!!

I have really liked the story and some of the characters and as far as having a fast-paced fast action with a little long detailed backgrounds, the storyline and books have been pretty good. But it has always killed me the way that the person reading the books did them. Every single sentence and word was said with urgency and annoyance like The main character could never believe or get a handle on her situation from the moment she woke up to the mom and she triumphed. It just constantly bothered me. Lauren fortang is one of my favorite narrators and the fact that she took over this series makes me very happy. She’s great as the spider with elemental assassin’s and she’s fantastic in the new series too. So happy she is taking this over. Makes it so much more tolerable and definitely increases my interest in this series.

What a difference a good narrator makes!!

As has always been the case with this author & series, the story was excellent. Lauren Fortgang's narration is worlds better than the narrator of the first 7 books in the series. Awesome narration!

Hooray for Shannon Mayer and Rilee.

Beware this is a 2 X box of Tissues episode.
Having said that it is still Rilee kicking a** all over the place plus a surprise at the end.(no spoilers).
So PLEASE, if you are a Rilee fan, read this anyway, it is worth the tears HONEST.
There is a new Narrator with this book, and I was used to Emma Galvin, but Lauren Fortgang does a good job too. I really think this series is worth the credits. So if you are new to this series or this is your 8th book, read and enjoy.

Well Done

I'm sorry to be blunt but am glad they have changed the narrator, not that she wasn't talented but because her voice was to young for the part. The writing was spot on. great job.

Why would you change narrator in the final books?

Lauren Fortang is a great narrator, But not for the Rylee Adamson series. All the joy and character definition that Emma Galvin brought to the series is destroyed by Lauren. Alexs pure heart and joyful expressions are gone. No one can narrate his YUPPY DOODY like Emma. I feel like Alex died or is possessed by a demon. The Narrations of male characters are very monotone and I cannot differentiate one from another. I love Lauren's narration of the 40 proof series but not this one! There is a serious lack of emotion that we've all been become used to when Emma was narrating and it's all lost. I am sorry to return these books as I will not listen to the series again and probably will not finish it.

Only a couple more books in this series. I can't say enough how much I love these books and characters.

Improved performance

Any additional comments?

Thank goodness someone taught the narator how to pronbounce Calliope! In previous books it grated every time the naem cropped up and was mispronounced.

Why change narrator?!

Love this series of books, absolutely binge listened (if that’s a thing!) to them, the only really disappointing bit is that 8 books in they’d change narrator it really throws you off, voices you’d previously recognise bein completely different and poor Alex, he was my favourite character before but now I just cringe when he speaks, such a shame

Great series awful change in narrator!

I have enjoyed the series so far but changing narrator at book 8! BIG mistake and truly awful... Horrific English accent from Pam and Liam sounded like her had had a stroke and Alex 😡😡😡 sounded like a bad impersonation of Scooby do if I wasn't so invested in the series I would return it ... Up until.now I have enjoyed listening to these books but this was a drag .... The story was a typical Tracker Demon scuffle with RA and her crew a sad end made sadder by the horrific narrator

Why change narrator?

I initially found the original narrator off putting as she sounded too young imo for a tough woman. More a smart mouthed older teen. As the books progressed I got used to the original narrator then all of a sudden the narrator changes and it throws you off. The current narrator would have been perfect for Riley from the beginning but she's lost the fun portrayed by Alex now he just sounds like a bit of a dope. I don't understand why the change?

Apart from that amazing books as ever!

Best Narrater!!

I’m hooked on this series but previously struggled with the narrator as it was hard to distinguish between character and at times became confusing as to what was going on because of this. This book is narrated by Lauren Fortgang and she has done an amazing job bringing each individual character to life!! The characters are now distinct and well performed. No mixing up who is who now! Chaos continues to stalk Rylee with lots of Rylee style drama in this book.

New narrator, but stick with it.

I’ve really being enjoying this series, but this book is a bit different from the last because there’s a new narrator. It took a while for my brain to adjust. Old Riley had a vulnerability and heart to her, and I felt that she was just a young woman trying to do the best she could with what she had. She seemed younger than her 26 years, so she could get away with a lot more bad behaviour, but new Riley is a lot more confident and sounds older, so when she and all the other characters make terrible decisions and then have to suffer the consequences, I’m not as sad for them. I feel like they should know better and just learn to communicate more so that they can avoid all the extra unnecessary drama. After about 3 or 4 chapters I got used to the new voice, and I was good again though (I pretended she was saying things in her old voice, until the old Riley and the new Riley merged into one person again, so if you’re enjoying the series so far, just persist for a bit and relax into it.
