Publisher's summary

In the mist-shrouded haze of the past, the world of Azeroth teemed with wondrous creatures of every kind. Mysterious Elves and hardy Dwarves walked among tribes of Man in relative peace and harmony - until the arrival of the demonic army known as the Burning Legion shattered the world's tranquility forever. Now Orcs, Dragons, Goblins, and Trolls all vie for supremacy over the scattered, warring kingdoms - part of a grand, malevolent scheme that will determine the fate of the world of Warcraft.

Slave. Gladiator. Shaman. Warchief. The enigmatic Orc known as Thrall has been all of these. Raised from infancy by cruel human masters who sought to mold him into their perfect pawn, Thrall was driven by both the savagery in his heart and the cunning of his upbringing to pursue a destiny he was only beginning to understand to break his bondage and rediscover the ancient traditions of his people. Now the tumultuous tale of his life's journey - a saga of honor, hatred, and hope - can at last be told....

Most memorable and favorite Warcraft story.

I love this book and read or listen to it often. the book tells the tale of Thrall, Warcheif of the Horde. it tells in great detail and emotional feeling how he rises from slavery and manipulation, into a humble and inspiring leader. It also goes to show the meaning of loss, and sacrifice, and how to persevere in those circumstances.

if you are ever even remotely interested in the warcraft universe, do yourself a favor, and read or listen to this at a minimum. you will thank yourself.

FOR THE HORDE!!!

I have been a long time warcraft fan! Played the games growing up but, never really dug into the history and lore other than the games. Hearing about the story of thrall becoming who he is was amazing and a great way to revitalize my love for world of warcraft. Christie golden has a very unique voice that grows on you quickly. All around 10/10 book and reading.

Enjoyable

it took me a good while to get through this audiobook and I don't think Christie Golden is the best narrator of all time but it is clear that she enjoyed giving all these characters a voice and passion.

Excellent

Narrator wasn't as bad as some other reviews say. Narrator has good moments of tone with some scenes and characters. Good story and great establishment of characters.

Another great story.

Having always been for the Horde, I love the background stories. Story itself is amazing and beautiful. Only complaint is the reading. Normally when read by the author the true emotions are given, but here I feel she struggled through some of it. Do not let that deter you from this though. The story must be told.

This book is very well done, I listened to it after “Rise of the Horde” and liked this story even better. Christie Golden knows how to tell an amazing story while peaking your interest at all times

Great!

great book. the narration is much better than her first attempt. still too dramatic and whispered for these books, but better than half the narrators out there. Her authorship is outstanding as always. On to Arthas!

Great book, alright narration

Lord of the Clans is a great book. The narration could be better. Having a woman narrate a book dominated by male characters and a male lead, is not the best choice, but it never becomes unbearable. and the fact that it's the author narrating does make it more acceptable.
I also found it a bit confusing in the first half because it often switches between scenes which isn't communicated properly in the narration. A noticeable pause would be nice.
