Publisher's summary
In the mist-shrouded haze of the past, the world of Azeroth teemed with wondrous creatures of every kind. Mysterious Elves and hardy Dwarves walked among tribes of Man in relative peace and harmony - until the arrival of the demonic army known as the Burning Legion shattered the world's tranquility forever. Now Orcs, Dragons, Goblins, and Trolls all vie for supremacy over the scattered, warring kingdoms - part of a grand, malevolent scheme that will determine the fate of the world of Warcraft.

Needed a different narrator
I love the story of Thrall. The narration is tough to listen to at first but gets better as the story progresses. The orcs needed a deep male voice to portray them but Christie Golden does okay.

great story narration mediocre
I loved the story and book but with all due respect Christie Golden needs to stick to her wonderful writing skills rather than narrating she tries but doesn't quite help the immersion. All-in-all I still thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook and I'm glad it finally came out, looking forward to the next one. If her narrating all the books is what it takes to get the rest of the books out in audiobook I would still happily accept it!

Miss Golden’s Magnum Opus
What can I say about this novel that others haven’t already said? It’s a great work that is worth reading.
Thrall’s humble beginnings are something to behold. Truly one of Miss Golden’s greatest literary works.
Her narration is awesome as well! I’d buy this a 3rd time if they could convince Metzen and Golden to perform it together.

unimmersive narration ruined this story for me. the story itself was good, but the female narrator failed to capture the roughness nature of orcs. Pacing was also a bit weird at some bits.

please rerecord this with a professional actor.
the story is well written and engaging, but just because someone is a decent writer doesn't mean they are a decent reader! this audio book really really needs a new recording. the biggest problem isn't her lack of range and that all characters sound almost the same, but how slow and halting her reading is. it's like she is reading for very young children who can't keep up.

Great book, alright narration
Lord of the Clans is a great book. The narration could be better. Having a woman narrate a book dominated by male characters and a male lead, is not the best choice, but it never becomes unbearable. and the fact that it's the author narrating does make it more acceptable.
I also found it a bit confusing in the first half because it often switches between scenes which isn't communicated properly in the narration. A noticeable pause would be nice.

Absolutely amazing!
I love how this story captures the horde in its very essence. And the definition of Thrall's character was undeniably illuminated in no less than 20 chapters. Bravo! As I trained my ear to Christie Goldberg's voice, I can't help but feel that it may have lacked some 'grunt' and bulky depth in its narrative. Nonetheless one can truly admire her will and passion as she tries her best to convey and portray all the different orcs and characters. Thank you for such an amazing experience!

Great story, the performance was… lackinf
I would recommend reading this story highly! I don’t regret using a credit to purchase and listen to it, but i don’t know if i will listen to it again.. rather i would prefer to read this story.. as hearing Ms Golden’s attempt to capture the rumbling voices of orcs is… lacking. The story overall is great, but the narration sounds more like Ms Golden had a cold, rather than able to capture the characters well.

The story of the real Horde.
And it also brings with it many good life lessons and values, that one can take with him/her into day to day life. Really good story, that is not too "heavy", and can be enjoyed while working.

Great story, narration is left wanting.
Christie Golden is a wonderful author, but she lacks something when narrating this unfortunately. The story is awesome, but hearing a woman attempt to narrate a male orcs voice is just a bit jarring. I'm not sexist by any stretch of the imagination, but she lacked the depth of voice for me, which would've made me connect with Thrall more.

Amazing story and well read
Though at first I did find the narration to be a bit, we will call it strange, it didn’t take me long to be hooked on the incredible story of Thrall and his youth.
Well worth the read and if you find yourself a bit off put by the narration give it a chance it’s worth it.
