A very special mouse embarks on an epic adventure to find his missing family in this acclaimed #1 New York Times bestseller from James Patterson, perfect for fans of Stuart Little and The Mouse and the Motorcycle.

What makes Isaiah so unique? First, his fur is as blue as the sky—which until recently was something he'd never seen, but had read all about. That's right: Isaiah can read and write. He can also talk to humans ... if any of them are willing to listen!

After a dramatic escape from a mysterious laboratory, Isaiah is separated from his "mischief" (which is the word for a mouse family) and has to survive in the dangerous outdoors, and hopefully find his missing family. But in a world of cruel cats, hungry owls, and terrified people, it's hard for a young, lone mouse to make it alone. When he meets an equally unusual and lonely human girl named Hailey, the two soon learn that true friendship can transcend all barriers.

What did you love best about Word of Mouse?

The vocabulary. Every page was packed full of sentences with new words for my child to learn. And each word was written such that it the new word could be self-defined fairly easily. It was a good enough story but the words were what made it great to me.

What other book might you compare Word of Mouse to and why?

I don't know. :-/

What does Nate Begle bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Nate tries very hard to read the emotions of the words and I think he does a great job. We had the book and the audiobook.....my daughter preferred Mr. Begle's voices than my own. I'm trying not to be too jealous of his apparent superior talent.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did not, but my daughter laughed the whole time. We listened on the way to school in the morning and I read to her a chapter or two before bedtime. Her eyes were always wide open (admittedly not ideal for bedtime reading!) and eager. She laughed often and was frightened for Isaiah during his many adventures.

Any additional comments?

Simply to strongly recommend this book.

A great intro to chapter books!

This is a lovely story about a blue mouse named Isaiah, his escape from a lab and the home he finds and makes his own. Hailey a human girl ends up becoming his friend.

Nate Begle warmly reads this book and all his characterizations are spot on. I am planning on downloading all of Nate Begle's books, and can't wait till even more are available!

I loved this book so much! The only thing I didn’t enjoy was how Nate begal read this book. I wish he had read it more steadily, and not paused in the middle of his sentences. I really disliked the narration, but overall a great book!

Loved it!
