You can change a few measurements and go from the average eight-foot table length to a 10-foot or even 16-foot banquet table. You can even go down to a four-foot apartment table! Don't miss out on starting right with these easy, flexible, and fun plans for furniture, both indoors and outdoors!

Some of the plans included in this book are:

  • A bookshelf that can be easily adjusted in every direction to fit your needs and your space, or your customer's space!
  • A beautiful dining-room table with a matching bench that can easily be adjusted to fit the allotted space!
  • A bunk bed that will save precious bedroom space for either a single sleeper with storage or workspace below - or turn it into a double sleeper to get optimal space in the room!
  • A rustic coffee table that will compliment any interior decor theme!

Helpful!

This book is without a doubt the single most informative book on woodworking. It is consise and to the point no matter what tool or procedure one uses. It doesn't go into great detail but what information it does give is more than enough to make one much more than a beginning woodworker. I have a ton of woodworking books but this one book I one I use more often any due to its simplification but still informative enough to fully explain almost any task associated with woodworking.

Wonderful!

This book has resolved arguments and educated the ignorant at my shop. Worth it for the peace of mind alone, if not the knowledge contained within. I have been trying to find out the name of a type of chisel for months now and finally found it because of this book.

Fine!

This is by far the best woodworking book I have ever read. My woodworking instructor recommends it to all of his students. I'm impressed by the level of detail the authors go into about even the most basic topics. The tutorials are clear and easy to follow, the material is interesting. The index is useful if you just want to use it as a reference book.

Great Book!

This book should be part of every workshop. It has an overview of everything you could ever need from types of wood and sourcing, to furniture dimensions and standards, to tool use and maintenance. I have several books on carpentry for my shop and whenever there is a question about how to use a tool or which joint to use I reach for this book first. It is a fantastic resource, and I have bought it as a gift several times for departing interns.

Nice!

I'm a complete novice woodworker, and this book not only gives me the basics, but I believe it will continue to be a resource as I learn and grow. It tells you all about different types of wood, explains hand and power tools, describes techniques, and has some basic plans. Tons of photos and illustrations. I can't put this book down!

Perfect!

This book provides background for setting up a workshop, tools you'll need, and even some projects. Unless you are a lot more skilled than I am though, I recommend supplemented your choice of first projects with a few more beginner-based project books from your local library or with an online search. Knowing the whats, hows, and whys is a lot different than actually doing the work. I'd also recommend that you start your practice work on cheap cuts of wood. Also, practice cuts, drilling, and joinery on scrap pieces. When you move on to choice hardwood, start with a small project. Good luck!

Great!

Has a lot of information in it. There are a few designs in the book but it is mainly explaining the process of how to do different things and what tools to use to accomplish them. It also tells you about the different types of wood and how easy or difficult they are to work with. This book has been very helpful and is a good buy for someone just getting into woodworking.

Helpful!

I love this book. Not only doess it cover woodworking techniques, but it even explains the growth cycles of trees that lead to the characteristics that carpenters find favorable in lumber. I actually had to buy a second copy, because my father, who has been a professional carpenter for 35 years, liked it so much that I gave it to him. That should tell you something, right there.
