Publisher's Summary

Even though they attend a school of gifted students in New York City, child geniuses Louise Mayer and her twin sister Jillian have always felt alone in the world, isolated by their brilliance. Shortly before their ninth birthday, they make an amazing discovery. They're not alone. Their real mother was astronaut Esme Shenske and their father was the famous inventor, Leonardo Dufae. They have an older sister, Alexander, living on the planet of Elfhome, and four siblings still in cryogenic storage at the fertility center. There's only one problem: The frozen embryos are scheduled to be destroyed within six months. The race is on to save their baby brother and sisters. As a war breaks out on Elfhome and riots start in New York City, the twins use science and magic to plow over everything standing in their way. But when they come face to face with an ancient evil force, they're soon in over their heads in danger.

In some ways, this is one of the best in the serie

First, it will help to know that this one takes place almost exclusively on earth, and actually begins before Tinker. If you had to read it before any of the others, you could, but why? It covers a longer timeline, and so ends just before the end of Elfhome, suggesting that the two storylines are about to merge. Oh, the possibilities.
Tanya Eby does a really great job, especially with Joy and the babies' voices. I look forward to future books in this series.

Author needs to make up her mind.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not really. the story, and the performance are good. the problem is that wen spencer has the writing style meant for teens and young adults, but then tries to put adult things in her books.

What did you like best about this story?

The two main characters were good. It was funny to listen to them overcoming trials.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorate scene has to be when the two main characters break into the museum.

Did Wood Sprites inspire you to do anything?

Nope.

Any additional comments?

Again I have a hard time understanding what this author is thinking. This book is written like it is meant for teens, but then she adds adult subjects for no reason. One problem I had was when the twins would think about something and they would swear. Mind these are supposed to be nine year old girls raised in a nice home. I doubt they would be thinking swear words like that. Yes they were smart, but when the author had them thinking like that, it made it more difficult to believe. Honestly someone needs to sit the author down and tell her that she needs to either change her style or leave out the adult content. If she did leave out the adult content, I bet she would have a lot more readers.

This one is totally awesome!

Its takes a little while to pick up speed. After all building the girls back story has to be thorough. The girls were happy and well loved by their parents.
The girls had an everyday life. They got up and ate breakfast then went to school. They are good girls who had the rug yanked out from under them. They are put into the position that they have a real good idea of what is coming after them.
OMG! You do not want any of the members of Tinker's family coming after you. I f are lucky you might be left with your life...but that will be all.
I started reading this book at 8:00 pm and could not put it down. I got totally sweep into this story. I finished it in 16 hours.
Never put it down.
Great book!

I missed the Tinker story but this was really good

Now I have to wait for another book and I really thought this was the end. That is my only complaint! This was a great book and a very easy read!

Greatly enjoyed

Excellently read, and the story is lovely. I started this resenting that its not about Tinker, and ending totally on Team Twin.
