Publisher's Summary

After a long walk with his disciples, Jesus arrives at an intermediate point in Samaria. This region has a long history and features the old well of the old Hebrew patriarch Joseph. Ah, how many memories had been formed at this exact location!

He is tired from the journey and seeks a drink of water. He meets a woman from Samaria who is stopping by to gather water for her family. This is not a typical occasion, and she is startled to see a full rabbinic Jew at this of all places. Perhaps this man is confused or disoriented and doesn't know his whereabouts, although that theory becomes less and less plausible, and she engages with this phenomenal teacher.

Temporarily alone, Jesus seizes a teachable moment in time.

Supernatural revelation

For me, this was a supernatural revelation that opened up the passage in ways that were never apparent before. The woman at the well story is a great story because of how Jesus crossed barriers to converse with the Samaritan. The author painted a dynamic picture here by explaining the meaning of the metaphors. I loved the analysis of the concrete language. To hear about the historical context, added so much more meaning for me. Great job with narration and easy-to-follow writing. I am giving this to my Lutheran pastor friend so he might use this for an upcoming sermon. Thank you!

Much needed clarification of Scripture

I find much of the Bible hard to understand, but this short book clarifies an important part of it.
