Bryan Duffy is Witness X - a government agent implicated in a national scandal and banished to Spain until the agenda can be moved on. But when North Korean hit men attack a seeming innocent on the streets of London, Duffy is called back to the fold. He is tasked with finding the woman's assailants and bringing them to justice.

Wish it was longer

Great story & as always I love David Thorpe - he definitely keeps my attention & gives such great life to his characters. This was well written & id love another story about the main characters.. can’t wait to hear what they do next.

Good novella but only okay narration this time..

Our hero in this book was Bryan Duffy and all I can say is the narrator did a terrible voice for him. Everyone sounded like perfectly speaking English men and women but Duffy sounded like he came straight out of the London rookeries. So I would suggest you don’t listen to this but read it. Unless you like sound of the rookeries being spoken.

Duffy’s old girlfriend, Tamsin, had acid thrown in her face because of something her husband did and it was up to Duffy to find the bad guys, since Duffy worked for Group Fifteen, the same group as John Milton from the Group Fifteen Files and Michael Pope from the Isabella Rose series. All were really good books so I just keep reading Mark Dawson’s books. I’m thinking The Cleaner is next, it’s a John Milton book.

Overall, this was exciting when they got to the company and the battle began. And then it was back to the hospital to see Tamsin. Wow, what a mess her face was, the description was kind of disgusting.

So, as for the swearing? The F-bomb was used ONE time. I have no idea why he would throw that in there. Give me the word a lot or not at all. One time is just silly.

As to the narration: David Thorpe did not disappoint except when he does a woman’s voice and the way he did Duffy's voice, too. (He really needs practice the women to get that better.)

Sound

Loved the story. The narrator was a great pick. Once again the volume of this author's work is much too soft.

Not loud enough

Could barely hear the narrative on the headphones. I do like the narrator. Hard to have feelings for the main character knowing he has been a bad guy in other novels. Don’t know who to root for.

Mark Dawson and David Thorpe - Unbeatable

Whether it’s a 2 hour or 20 hour Audible book, the brilliance of Mark Dawson’s storytelling and David Thorpe’s performance can not disappoint. I own and have read them all and can recommend them to anyone who loves being engaged and able to slip into the texture of the stories Mark Dawson creates.

Nice listen.

I hope this is the first in a series because it felt like more of a short story than a novel. It was well crafted and had a solid story, but the ending of course leaves one to wonder what is next
