It was too much too soon!

It has a good premise but there just was no time to take moving and meeting and getting to know or like anyone. Yes I like to have a good quick moving story. I also need to connect with someone.

Fun Cozy Witch Mystery

This is the first in a trio of books about Morgan Summers, eldest in a family of witches from the little town of Yew Hollow. She has the special ability to see ghosts. Morgan has been living in New York to escape her family heritage, but has decided to return home. On her first night home she becomes embroiled in a murder and becomes the main suspect. The story details her search for the real killer and uncovers a paranormal threat to the local coven as well as the whole town.

This was an enjoyable cozy mystery read. I liked Morgan and found it to be a fun, interesting listen. At about 2 ½ hours, this was more a novella length story than a fully developed novel. I felt the author could have doubled the length of the book simply by filling out more details of the story line. The other issue I had with this book was that the title is very confusing. All three books in this series are titles Witch Myth, as well as other series involving other members of the Summers coven. The books do not even have separate subtitles. This made my head want to pop trying to figure out which book to start with and what order they were in. I strongly suggest the author give each book a unique subtitle.

Jo Nelson was an excellent narrator and was a pleasure to listen to. She was animated and brought life to the story. My only problem with the narrator was that her speech sounded more British than American. I struggled at first to determine if the story was set in the US or Great Britain.

Overall, this was a quick, interesting read, but confusing to distinguish one book from the other in this series.

Good Read

Witch Myth: A Yew Hollow Cozy Mystery- Book 0 was a great read by Alexandria Clarke. Morgan Summers hates to talk to ghosts. The victim of a ghastly murder asks for her help and Morgan can't say no. Unfortunately she finds herself blamed for the murder and the town is out to get her. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Good

Morgan got more than she agree for with a ghost. She is now being blamed for the murder and the town people aren’t helping. Enjoyable. Given audio for my voluntary review

Wrong narrator

This story is set in Virginia. As in the United States. So why is the narrator British? Very distracting. Especially when she used the term “at University”. Yeah, that ain’t southern.

Fun and funny short cozy mystery

Well written, fun, and funny, I thoroughly enjoyed this production. The story was pretty solid for being so short—there were a few lapses of logic and the time-worn plot of townsfolk vs witches was a little tired and stretched thin, but considering it was such a short story and a prequel, the author did it well enough. The twist was predictable but also right for the story. The only thing that really bugged me was the lack of consequences for the initial murderer. It was addressed but...not enough to be satisfying. However, the writing, the humor and snappy dialogue, the likable protagonist, the family, the coven, the house/setting, and the magic were all so enjoyable that I’ll be immediately buying the next book in the series.
The narration was sort of a mixed bag. She was good, most of the time I liked listening to her. Her voices for the female characters were great. Her voices for the male characters were a little painful. Most jarring of all though was a town set in New England being performed entirely with British country accents. It was funny and a little distracting. But not enough for me to forego the pleasure of listening to the next book in the series.
Overall, a highly enjoyable cozy mystery, and I’m giving it 5 stars just because I laughed so many times and liked the protagonist so much.
