Publisher's summary

Hadley Hunter is finally getting a handle on life as a witch. Island living isn’t always beautiful sunsets and fruity cocktails, but things have never been better…until a body washes up on the beach during a private picnic with her boyfriend Galen Blackwood.

The body belongs to a local business manager, who just happens to be married to the daughter of one of the richest men on the island. Unfortunately for their victim, nobody—including his wife and daughters—seems to care that he’s gone. The deeper they dig, the more dirt they come up with on the victim…and the clues lead them straight to the isolated coven on the far side of the island.

Hadley doesn’t know a lot about witches, including herself, but what she learns doesn’t leave her with warm and fuzzy feelings. These witches mean business, and they’re intent on keeping their secrets from seeing the light of day.

When more bodies start dropping, all coven members, Hadley realizes something very big is about to happen. What, though?

With Galen and their friends at her side, Hadley is ready to engage in a new type of battle. This one is bigger than witches because it leads right through the heart of the island’s government body, the terrifying DDA.

Hadley thought she was adjusting, but things are about to change. The question is, when the dust settles, who will be left standing and what side will they be on?

Great story

I love how each story grows the plot and leads into so much more. I cannot wait for the next story.

I like the series AND THE NARRATOR

I have listened to ALL Lee’s books under both her names. Angel Clark narrates more than anyone else. Hadley and certain other protagonists are specifically described as ‘snarky.’ Clark is well-suited for snark. The angry reviewer should have listened to the 5-minute sample all audiobooks have and then she would know the narrator would not suit. Also, she has 7 days to exchange a book. Maybe she is new to Audible.

The story is fine!

Predictable? Not really

Yes, there is always a happy ending. That's why most of us read this type of story. What's not predictable is how the solutions develop. Who wants more of "2023 Reality"? I sustain my hopeful prayers for this world by not spending all of my time immersed in reality... with a bit of happy fantasy.
The narrator does a good job, but I can only take a little at a time. After listening to an Audible, I usually have to read the next 2 or 3 books. lol

Love it

I love it, esp when Hadley balks at being called a busybody and grandma May puts in an appearance.

I Can’t Listen To This

The narration is absolutely horrific. Shrill. She sounds like a snotty 10 year old. The rhythm is just awful, awful. What a waste of a credit! I’ll have to get the kindle edition.

My ears hurt

The narrator of this book has the most annoying voice and is not adept at reading aloud. I couldn’t get past the first few minutes. I love the author and this series, but I will read the book rather than listen to this annoying narrator. Ever.
