Publisher's Summary

Cammy just moved in, and there is a dead body already!

When the 23-year-old witch arrives in California, a man gets shot during the parade on the 4th of July. Somehow, she gets involved in the investigation. She assures her cat Shadow that her relationship with Detective Colvin is purely professional, but at the same time, she isn’t certain whether or not the single father is interested in more than friendship.

Meanwhile, the two interrogate family, friends, employees, and suspicious individuals that may lead them to the discovery of the perpetrator. From hoarding ex-wives to disgruntled hotel workers, the investigation is a puzzle to solve.

As she sets up her little shop with spices and potions, searches for valuable gems in zoos, and flies on her mop to beach volleyball tournaments, Cammy keeps her magical powers to herself as much as possible. However, when their research leads to a dead end, she finds herself in an awkward dilemma: Should she use magic to uncover the truth and catch the murderer? Or should she avoid the risk of revealing what she really is?

This is a clean, fun, cozy witch mystery with humor, plot twists, a murder case, and a hint of romantic tension.

witchy and a touch of humor

Obviously the author put some thought into creating humorous anecdotes and witty remarks from the cat side-kick, and the story becomes interesting after a broomstick chase, an interrogation, and her friend Zelly, who is acting all weird. Recommended.

Witchy, Cozy, Fun!

I'm fairly new to the "cozy" genre, but loved this one especially with the "supernatural twist." Great fun! Today it's cool and cloudy, and this type of book is perfect to cuddle up to the fire with. Really liked the story, and narration was good.

Follow Cammy as she works to solve a murder and keep her "witchiness" a secret. Is there also love.. or like... in the air? :)
Really cute! Enjoyed the listen :) Halloween's coming, perfect time to listen to this one! :)

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Sabrina but better?

This book reminded me a lot of the TV series Sabrina the Teenage Witch. I loved the humor in here, though. Some of those things they wouldn't even dare going into in the TV show.

She has a mop?

I couldn't stop laughing about the fact that she goes on a date and then something spills at the restaurant and she happens to be the only person with a mop. You gotta be pretty silly to make that up.

Sweet Cozy Mystery

I loved the mop. Broom, who needs a stinking broom, when you have a mop?

Great story

I am a fan

Now I want to know everything about Cammy's life. She's funny, smart, beautiful, and a mystery solver. What's not to love?

This was funny

I liked the humor, and I enjoyed Cammy's take on things, with her black cat and a mop (not a broomstick). Great book.

The author was very creative

I think Angela did a great job describing a newbie in a strange town, and even though the character comes across as very young, you can also tell that she's had the experience and know-how of an adult. I didn't expect the murderer to be the one who did it in the end. Twist ending for sure.

Humorous

Death and destruction aren't typical for this cozy, although there is a murder. It's all about the main character, and how she handles her shop, her spells, and the friends around her. It's funny to see which kinds of people enter her shop and it was funny to read about her misunderstanding that one ingredient she thought she had to go get in the Rocky Mountains.

my favourite

I greatly enjoyed this book for the reasons I usually enjoy the books I listen, particularly characters that are fleshed out, likeable, and unique, and a plot that engages me..

Cammy does it all

She is a super witch. So sweet and at the same time, she has some toughness and is actively looking for whom she can trust.

Funny and witchy

I love cozy witch mysteries. This is a young witch with some magical powers, ready to solve a mystery. The murder scene isn't gory or bloody, and it's all very light hearted. Some jokes and witch things like flying on a mop, make it even better.

Witches and mops

A funny story, a murder mystery, and a crazy cat who talks back to Cammy when she tells him not to tease her about her dates.

Funny

Witty, humorous, and a cozy mystery with a murder case to be solved. Cammy has been painted as the perfect body figure young innocent type of witch, something that if you're looking for a character like that, it is a nice match.

Cozier than cozy

Witch is Next is a classic cozy witch mystery, in which Cammy moves to a new town, owns a little shop of peculiarities and magical potions, and plays volleyball on the beach with her fellow witch, Zelly. However, there is a murder in town (typical), and she teams up with a handsome but complex detective to solve the case. Full of witty anecdotes, a teasing, talking cat, and more interesting moments I enjoyed.

What's not to like?

In this story, you have all the elements a cozy witch mystery needs: Spices and peculiarities shop, new in town, flying a mop, crazy cat who teases the witch for flirting with guys, some romance, a murder and an inspector, and a plot twist. Perfect.

The cat is funny

Witty remarks from a cat who is teasing Cammy about the fact that she is still single. She's beautiful, she's young, but she's clever and figures out how to find the murderer.

Cammy is funny

I can totally empathize with Cammy, with the awkwardness of her figure, the baby face, and the thoughts that are going through her head.

Crazy cat

The cat is the silliest. He is more of a side kick, like a princess in a Disney movie, but hey, it made the story that much funnier.

Lovely cozy

This is written by a woman who knew how to talk to her readers in this specific genre. it has all the elements of humour, a touch of witty teasing, magic, background story, inner monologue, dialogues, and a murder with a twist ending.
