Publisher's Summary

Cammy just moved in, and there is a dead body already!

When the 23-year-old witch arrives in California, a man gets shot during the parade on the 4th of July. Somehow, she gets involved in the investigation. She assures her cat Shadow that her relationship with Detective Colvin is purely professional, but at the same time, she isn’t certain whether or not the single father is interested in more than friendship.

Meanwhile, the two interrogate family, friends, employees, and suspicious individuals that may lead them to the discovery of the perpetrator. From hoarding ex-wives to disgruntled hotel workers, the investigation is a puzzle to solve.

As she sets up her little shop with spices and potions, searches for valuable gems in zoos, and flies on her mop to beach volleyball tournaments, Cammy keeps her magical powers to herself as much as possible. However, when their research leads to a dead end, she finds herself in an awkward dilemma: Should she use magic to uncover the truth and catch the murderer? Or should she avoid the risk of revealing what she really is?

This is a clean, fun, cozy witch mystery with humor, plot twists, a murder case, and a hint of romantic tension.

Don’t bother with this one

The story is very weak and childish. The narrative is awful. She sounds like a teenager who has a stuffy head. Unless you’re 12 years old I would not bother.

Not my cup of tea

I love cozy mysteries as a genre, but this book failed in every way.

I found a lot of the dialogue painful to listen to, it felt unnatural and I couldn't imagine conversations like this actually happening. The detective (Colvin) wasn't believable either, I can't imagine any real detective taking along a random woman as he investigates a murder (or any crime for that matter). As much as books are an escape, there needs to be some realism to make it believable.

The narration didn't help the experience either, the character voices were OK, but the delivery was mono-tone and boring to listen to.

Overall, I was glad when this ended.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Witchy, Cozy, Fun!

I'm fairly new to the "cozy" genre, but loved this one especially with the "supernatural twist." Great fun! Today it's cool and cloudy, and this type of book is perfect to cuddle up to the fire with. Really liked the story, and narration was good.

Follow Cammy as she works to solve a murder and keep her "witchiness" a secret. Is there also love.. or like... in the air? :)
Really cute! Enjoyed the listen :) Halloween's coming, perfect time to listen to this one! :)

Witch Is Next?

I really enjoy cozy mysteries and had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. I’m not sure if it was the writing style, or the delivery, but something was just off.

I am willing to give the next book in the series a chance to see if things come together.

Sweet Cozy Mystery

I loved the mop. Broom, who needs a stinking broom, when you have a mop?

Story was OK but narrator ruined it.

I liked the story well enough but it was tough getting through it with this narrator.

Her character voices were OK but whether it was the editing or the narrator herself the in between narration was choppy and sounded like there was a breath after every word.

charming main character, story needed some editing

I'm not really the right audience for this book. I think it was intended for tween or young teen girls. I feel like the author might also be quite young, but don't know that. If you're looking for a light read with a charming main character, a good moral compass, and a whimsical mystery, this might be the story for you. But if you're looking for an urban fantasy that has a sense of realism, this is probably not going to make you happy. I received my copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review, so ... this was it.

Kudos to author!

Light and entertaining. Great characters. The plot was excellent and I couldn't wait to finish it. Can't wait for the next book.
A nice cozy mystery. The main character is well thought out and so quirky. Needs a bit of editing help.
