Best book by far

The last book felt lacking in the progression and substance departments compared to his previous works but this thing. It’s a masterpiece, good side story of the main characters, great fights and progression. Couldn’t have asked for more from Will with this book bravo good sir.

Absolute masterpiece

I have always viewed authors as simply storytellers or creative people. This book led me to an epiphany. Authors, or at minimum Will Wight, are artists. The story written by Will and read by Travis Baldree is an absolute masterpiece. It seems that I rate every new book in this series as better than the last. This series is simply incredible. Even at full price, this series is a must read. I'm in awe. Utterly incredible, gentlemen. Well done.

Gold standard for western xianxia

This series keeps on getting better and better.
I like that we saw battle action POV from different characters in this book.
Now, back to waiting for book 9.

Over a year in waiting and nervous ...

about a lackluster restart? Well, cast those doubts aside, this episode doesn't hesitate to jump right into where it left off and quickly move forward at a fast pace with dicey monarch encounters, sage rivalries, continued deadly Uncrowned King tournament battles and, sadly, more poignant deaths of likable characters. If that isn't enough to whet your palette, how about throwing an awakening dreadgod in the mix. Both Lindon and Yerin are mostly separated with him having to tip-toe and insert himself into the monarch's business in hopes to not lose Dross; while Yerin and the other Acura clan members must continue to compete in the tournament with Yerin also having to contend with her unwelcome parasitic sidekick. Lindon continues his advancement using the most unconventional and, frankly, macabre means. And, if you were expecting more story arc involving the band of weary companions, Lindon, Yerin, Dross, Eithan, Mercy and others, you won't be let down.

Will Wight is an absolute treasure when it comes to writing this and other fantasies and Travis Baldree joins him in making the audio performance portion like icing on a cake.

Best one yet!

This series keeps getting better and better, I don’t how the author does it. Between the magic systems, the characters’ development, and the storytelling this is a perfect book in my opinion and I recommend it to anyone.
