Sweet story of life after tragedy

Winter's a great friend who takes on his raising his best friend's baby after her death. Unfortunately, he has to work with her husband's younger brother, Creed, who came back from the military to take on his nephew. Luckily, they happen to be fated mates that just need to figure out how to make things work.

Of course, there's someone that isn't happy with how things are happening but with a HEA, it all gets sorted out.

John Solo is one of my favorite narrators and he does a great job with this story.

Unexpectedly good

Winter Di Matteo inherits a baby boy when his best friend and her husband are killed in a car accident. However, he has joint custody with the baby's uncle, Creed Makami, a Marine whom Winter doesn't know. They don't start off on the right foot but realize quickly that they're really on the same side and call a truce. the fact that they scent each other and recognize immediately who each is to the other inevitably leads to lots of sexy times. And while they're figuring out how to be together and falling in love, they manage to unearth unsettling truths about the people closest to them whom they thought they could trust. The love story is quite sweet, though it includes some dark and unexpected notes, like the fact that the baby's parents' death was not an accident, and that Winter's friend Terry is more than he appears to be. Winter doesn't always act like a 32-year-old man; in fact, most of the time he seems much younger. I had to keep reminding myself that Creed is only ten years older than he is. On the whole, I found Creed a far more compelling character than Winter. John Solo's narration was okay. His strength seems to be his ability to differentiate between characters.

Narration Was Good

This is the first book in The Captured Heart Series. I like this type of story, but the writing needed help in this one. The worldbuilding and character development had too many holes that needed filled in. Maybe if it had been longer that could’ve been prevented. Winter and Creed are the MC’s of this book. The narration was good he wasn’t monotone and had different voices for each character. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

So sadly sweet

Oh it's a teartearjerker from the start. Insta love, fated mates. It's overall a good story with a little mystery and intrigue and the narration of course is down well.

Love me, bite me and hold me

Of course I enjoyed this. 😁 I mean fated mates, a baby and Mpreg and a sassy omega .. what’s not to love? 😉 Plus, my favorite John Solo is the narrator so it’s all win for me. 💜

When his best friend Caroline suddenly passed away in a car accident, Winter found himself being left with Caroline’s newborn baby. He’s beyond sad and anguished but he’ll do everything in his power to take care and cherish this baby. And then, Creed came knocking into his life. The younger brother of Caroline’s husband who also passed away in the unfortunate car accident, Creed came back from the early to take custody of the little bundle from Winter. But then they are fated mates. Things seem to all work out in the beginning. Fated mates, an adorable baby and booming business but darkness is lurking in the corner waiting for a chance to destroy the newfound family’s happiness. Will Creed and Winter get their happily ever after?

I liked that there are lots of twists and turns in the story because I had no idea who the villain was. 😳 I loved the romance and the fated mate trope but it’s interesting and lovely to see some fresh mystery/thriller aspect in it. Needless to say, Creed and Winter were so hot together 🔥 and the epilogue was lovely. All in all, a really enjoyable audio. I loved listening this. 😌

Even better when it is read to you!

I loved this sweet story when I read it in ebook form. But having this narrator bring the story to life was even better! The author gives you the right amount of emotional and intrigued. A lovely happening ending for both main characters. The narrator gave them all a whole new level of emotion.

Good overall insta-love story

The beginning totally sucked and my heart broke for Winter as he dealt with the loss of his best friend. Seeing Creed also struggle with not being home or knowing his brother passed was awful as well. Overall, this story was good. It had the "fated mates who will know immediately the other is the one for them" type of insta-love. That trope sometimes annoys me, but luckily Creed and Winter were adorable and not annoying to me. I was glad to see them come together and find a happy life for the baby. There was a little mystery surrounding part of the storyline, and I liked it. I kind of figured out the "who-dun-it" but not the why. I'm interested and curious about the next book and couple in the series.

I listened to this on audiobook and the narration was awesome.

Family is where you find it

This is narrated by John Solo who is one of my favourite narrators, so I jumped at the chance of a review promo code for this as I also love Alpha/Omega stories. This one is about a baby belonging to the Omega's best friend and her mate who is the brother of the Alpha who comes home from serving abroad in the military. Winter is feisty and sassy, but he feels for Creed who has just found out that he has lost his brother, so they compromise on looking after the baby together and find more than they expected. Recommended for all lovers of Alpha/Omega stories.

Mystery

I really enjoyed listening to this book as Winter and Creed meet for the first time after heartbreak for both of them. We then learn about a mystery that needs to be solved which turns up interesting information.

Winter's Promise: Omegaverse Romance ( Captured Heart book 1) by Giovanna Reaves. This story develops nicely. A good combination of world building and character development. If you like M/Preg this is the story for you.
The Narrator John Solo did a fantastic job bringing these characters and story to life.
