Publisher's Summary

"Please stand for the Daughter of Winter, the Slayer of Demons, the Heir to the Throne, her Royal Highness, the Lady Wynter."

Wyn thought everything would be unicorns and rainbows once she reached her mother's palace.

The last things she expected were assassination attempts, the Summer King readying for war, and, worst of all, frilly dresses.

But all of that is pushed to the side when one of her Guardians needs her help. They're hers. And she'll protect them while keeping her vow to protect the Realm. No matter the cost.

This is the second novel in the Daughter of Winter series, a paranormal reverse harem romance for listeners 18 years old and older.

New developments

I love the world that we are exploring. Great characters, intriguing plot, suspense unfolding. I would have loved a little more heat for a RH but all in all, a great story.

Great Narration- Well read, great accent~ Laurel always keeps it interesting and holds your attention.

Looking forward to book 3!

Winter Heiress

I love that the story picks up as you left book 1. But it ends making you need more. Wyn is getting more adjusted to her life in the palace and learning her part. Of course things are never quite what you think in a palace. Never knowing who to trust other than her guardians. An attempt to kill Wyn makes her realize how fragile life can be, but the attacks against them don't end with her this time. Laurel Schroeder does an amazing job on the narration and delivers a flawless performance.

I’m so in love

I am seriously loving this series. Follow Winter as she tries to figure out life at court and who is behind the threats on her life. The narrator does such a good job on this series. I can not wait for the next one especially after that ending.

Great Sense of Humor and Narrator

I loved this story! This is an amazing continuation. It made me love all the characters more. I loved the sense of humor in this book. The narrator was great for this book. She was also very easy to understand.

Amazing Sequel

This book was just as great as the first! I loved that we got to learn about Crispen’s past and find out why he acts the way he does. It really made him seem more realistic and made his actions and personality more reasonable. Wyn’s relationships with her guardians continue to grow along with her relationship with her mom, Biera. This book had so many twists and turns, heartbreaking moments, and suspense. I can’t wait to see what happens next and go on another journey with Wyn and her men!
Laurel did another amazing job with her narration! She puts a lot of emotion into her performance to bring the characters and story to life. It’s always a great experience to listen to her voice and accents that she does for each character!

When a story changes

The story finally shared some information on Win's background and we learned who her father is, sadly some tragedies happend nearing the end, while the performance on this audio is still perfectly portrayed.

The book itself felt like it wasn't sure where it wanted to go jumping from an adventure to discovering a new enemy in the end. I was also disappointed by the "test" Win was placed under in the begging, also the RH aspect holds no true spark.

While this book is feeling slow for me I will finish the series so my fellow listner don't be discouraged what isn't for me may be perfect for you.

Loving this series!!

Skye MacKinnon gives you a book that appeals to your inner princess while satisfying your deviant side. You can't go wrong with a talking unicorn. The narration is great, Laurel Schroeder has a gift. I can't imagine it's easy to sound like a man and she does it well. I'd refer this book to anyone

Quite a story!

The narrator does a great job of reading at a good pace and giving voice to emotions and the atmosphere of the audiobook scenes. Book 2 was easier to follow and understand. This book had more mystery and intrigue than the last. Once again, the epilogue leaves you on the hook for the next book!

Great Series and amazing narration!

This is the second book in this fantastic Series, The Daughter of Winter. The story continues where the first book ended, so you absolutely have to read/listen to the first book before this one. I love Wyn and her guardians Arc, Crispin, Storm and Frost. The other characters are also really interesting. The story is intriguing and captivating, filled with twist and turn, steamy scenes, and also humorous scenes. In this book, we learn more about Cripin's story, and also about Wyn's mother. This book ends with a cliffhanger, and now I can't wait for the next book in the Series! Laurel Schroeder did an amazing job with the narration!

I'm not sure if I can finish this one...

I kind of want to stab my ears out! The first book was "Eh.." but not horrible. It was starting to get on my nerves towards the end but I decided that was a fluke and bought the 2nd... mistake! It seems like Winter complains non-stop and has the mental capacity of a 14 year old boy. Then the narrator has a slow, whiney voice to match the writing of the character. Laurel Schroeder did a good job with Seraph Black, that's how I ended up on this series.... so it has to be the writing. Ugh. I really don't want to finish this book.

Who wants sparklies???

I'm really enjoying this series. Book two is definitely more intense than the first book. Things in the plot are starting to build and things are changing for our otherwise lighthearted MC. There is more intimacy between the MC and her guardians in this book which makes for some good sexy time scenes. I can't wait to get started on book three and see where this story goes!!

Great continuation

I love how this book follows straight on from the first, no wasting time going over old ground!
This time we bond with characters, delving into pasts, getting to know and understand them, learning about the realms and the gods. Throw in some more hot steamy sex, rainbows, assassins, Magic, Death, and Unicorn Sparkles and end with heartbreaking news, and you have yourselves a fantastic book 2
Author and Narrator symmetry still going strong.

Much the same as Book 1

The pace continues the same from book 1...slow. The characters and relationships are underdeveloped, especially for book 2. If you really enjoyed the first, I would assume you would really enjoy this book, though. Caution: at some point towards the end the story turns to the horror genre. I am not sure where the author is going. 🎧 AudiobookObsession

My Thoughts on Winter Heiress

Talk about unexpected twists. This book was chalked full of them right to the very end. Some of them were heartbreaking, some just surprising, but all of it has me desperate for the next book. Skye MacKinnon wasn’t an author I was previously familiar with before having the opportunity to start this series, but she has certainly impressed with her complex characters, her story and world building, and her ability to keep the reader guessing of what’s going to come next. None of this book was predictable for me.

The narrator is one of my favorites and I never have any complaints where she’s concerned. She kept the expectation of awesome going for me with this one. I look forward to more stories by both this author and this narrator and I absolutely cannot wait to get Winter Queen.

Loved it!

Still not digging a certain aspect of this story, but I think it's because I'm taking it a bit out of context. I don't think it's meant in the way it comes off to me. I really did enjoy this story very much and can't wait to get my hands on the rest of this series. It's very amazing and action-packed. There are some aspects that could have been elaborated on a bit more, but nothing too major. I fully recommend this book. I recommend reading the first one first.

Over before you know it!

Book 2 picks up right where book 1 leaves off. No dreaded info dump!

We get to see more relationship building between Winter and the guardians, especially Crispin. We learn more about the Winter Kingdom and some other important details.

The author is still building relationships and filling in important back story details, so there isn't as much movement in the plot as one would hope; however, one is easily ensnared by the writing and you can't help but to hang onto every word.

Enticing cliffhanger at the end. Can't wait for the next installment in this reverse harem!

Fast paced, and is (sadly) over before you know it because you just want to keep on listening.

Narration was great, and is consistent with book 1. Probably even a smidge better than book 1 (though book 1 was great).
Excellent performance!

I received a review copy of the book and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Redeemed

For the first book in the series, I left a bad review and I'm not sure why. I have just listened to the first and second again and I enjoyed them a lot more second time round. The books are medium burn with good build up. Laurel Schroeder does a great job with different character voices, and in doing so, loses the annoying cadence that I struggled with in The Serreph Black series. There's a good amount of drama and love scenes and even scenes where loved ones die, which makes for an interesting change.
