Publisher's Summary

"Please stand for the Daughter of Winter, the Slayer of Demons, the Heir to the Throne, her Royal Highness, the Lady Wynter."

Wyn thought everything would be unicorns and rainbows once she reached her mother's palace.

The last things she expected were assassination attempts, the Summer King readying for war, and, worst of all, frilly dresses.

But all of that is pushed to the side when one of her Guardians needs her help. They're hers. And she'll protect them while keeping her vow to protect the Realm. No matter the cost.

This is the second novel in the Daughter of Winter series, a paranormal reverse harem romance for listeners 18 years old and older.

I love the world that we are exploring. Great characters, intriguing plot, suspense unfolding. I would have loved a little more heat for a RH but all in all, a great story.

Winter Heiress

I love that the story picks up as you left book 1. But it ends making you need more. Wyn is getting more adjusted to her life in the palace and learning her part. Of course things are never quite what you think in a palace. Never knowing who to trust other than her guardians. An attempt to kill Wyn makes her realize how fragile life can be, but the attacks against them don't end with her this time. Laurel Schroeder does an amazing job on the narration and delivers a flawless performance.

I’m so in love

I am seriously loving this series. Follow Winter as she tries to figure out life at court and who is behind the threats on her life. The narrator does such a good job on this series. I can not wait for the next one especially after that ending.

Quite a story!

The narrator does a great job of reading at a good pace and giving voice to emotions and the atmosphere of the audiobook scenes. Book 2 was easier to follow and understand. This book had more mystery and intrigue than the last. Once again, the epilogue leaves you on the hook for the next book!

Great Series and amazing narration!

This is the second book in this fantastic Series, The Daughter of Winter. The story continues where the first book ended, so you absolutely have to read/listen to the first book before this one. I love Wyn and her guardians Arc, Crispin, Storm and Frost. The other characters are also really interesting. The story is intriguing and captivating, filled with twist and turn, steamy scenes, and also humorous scenes. In this book, we learn more about Cripin's story, and also about Wyn's mother. This book ends with a cliffhanger, and now I can't wait for the next book in the Series! Laurel Schroeder did an amazing job with the narration! I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.

I'm not sure if I can finish this one...

I kind of want to stab my ears out! The first book was "Eh.." but not horrible. It was starting to get on my nerves towards the end but I decided that was a fluke and bought the 2nd... mistake! It seems like Winter complains non-stop and has the mental capacity of a 14 year old boy. Then the narrator has a slow, whiney voice to match the writing of the character. Laurel Schroeder did a good job with Seraph Black, that's how I ended up on this series.... so it has to be the writing. Ugh. I really don't want to finish this book.

Great Continuation

As always the narrator was amazing. The storyline kept me engaged and intrested throughout the entire book. I did shed a couple tears at the ending, but can't wait to see where S.M. will take me next.

Bring on book 3

I absolutely love this series! I want to be Winter so I can flirt and spent time with her guardians. This book picks up where the first book leaves off. All though there seems to be just as much danger now that they’ve reached her mothers realm. The story line, character development, suspense and I think I’m in book shock after the ending. Laurel Schroeder’s narration is spot on! She moves in between the characters expertly and brings Winter to life as no one else can. Definitely recommend

Great continuation

I love how this book follows straight on from the first, no wasting time going over old ground!
This time we bond with characters, delving into pasts, getting to know and understand them, learning about the realms and the gods. Throw in some more hot steamy sex, rainbows, assassins, Magic, Death, and Unicorn Sparkles and end with heartbreaking news, and you have yourselves a fantastic book 2
Author and Narrator symmetry still going strong.

My Thoughts on Winter Heiress

Talk about unexpected twists. This book was chalked full of them right to the very end. Some of them were heartbreaking, some just surprising, but all of it has me desperate for the next book. Skye MacKinnon wasn’t an author I was previously familiar with before having the opportunity to start this series, but she has certainly impressed with her complex characters, her story and world building, and her ability to keep the reader guessing of what’s going to come next. None of this book was predictable for me.

The narrator is one of my favorites and I never have any complaints where she’s concerned. She kept the expectation of awesome going for me with this one. I look forward to more stories by both this author and this narrator and I absolutely cannot wait to get Winter Queen.

Loved it!

Still not digging a certain aspect of this story, but I think it's because I'm taking it a bit out of context. I don't think it's meant in the way it comes off to me. I really did enjoy this story very much and can't wait to get my hands on the rest of this series. It's very amazing and action-packed. There are some aspects that could have been elaborated on a bit more, but nothing too major. I fully recommend this book. I recommend reading the first one first.

Over before you know it!

Book 2 picks up right where book 1 leaves off. No dreaded info dump!

We get to see more relationship building between Winter and the guardians, especially Crispin. We learn more about the Winter Kingdom and some other important details.

The author is still building relationships and filling in important back story details, so there isn't as much movement in the plot as one would hope; however, one is easily ensnared by the writing and you can't help but to hang onto every word.

Enticing cliffhanger at the end. Can't wait for the next installment in this reverse harem!

Fast paced, and is (sadly) over before you know it because you just want to keep on listening.

Narration was great, and is consistent with book 1. Probably even a smidge better than book 1 (though book 1 was great).
Excellent performance!

I received a review copy of the book and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

So good!

I gave the first part 4 stars because, because, while I enjoyed it, it didn't completely win me over. However, in the second part I fell in love with the series! I liked the narration much better, in fact, it was perfect, and the storyline was very captivating. I love how the relationship between Wyn and her guardians develops. It's so tender, yet super sexy. There are no wild orgy scenes (which I'm glad about), instead we have hot scenes between Wyn and one of her guardians and suggestive hints of the things that happen when they all spend the night together. It's very well done and was for me the perfect way for a Reverse Harem.
The storyline of the Winter Heiress and her kingdom is also further developed and well done. The plot thickens ;-)
As for Laurel Schroeder's narration, she does great voices and I liked her intonations and rythm to narration so much in this one. She transported the feelings of the protagonists very well.

I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Keeps you wanting more!

Book two of the Daughter of Winter continues with Wyn living with her 4 Guardians. She is missing her adoptive parents, getting to know her Guardians better and just when things we going smoothly, an attempt on her life is made! There are a lot of twists and turns in this installment, giving us a look at immortality, lots of magic and dragons. We get a look into Crispin's past, learning how he first was raised and the reasons he views himself as he does. So many things to take in, and the ending leaves us hanging! We need the next book to resolve the mysteries of the demons and if Wyn with the help of her guardians can save all of her loved ones!

Laurel Schroeder is amazing as these characters grow and evolve. Every one with their own voice, multiple accents and incredible personalities, Schroeder keeps the listener engaged and thrilled.

Winter Heiress

What a great addition to the first in this series. We continue to follow Win through her new life as the heiress and the struggles in missing her adoptive parents. The twists in this book are heartbreaking and I hope to see some kind of resolution in the next book.

Redeemed

For the first book in the series, I left a bad review and I'm not sure why. I have just listened to the first and second again and I enjoyed them a lot more second time round. The books are medium burn with good build up. Laurel Schroeder does a great job with different character voices, and in doing so, loses the annoying cadence that I struggled with in The Serreph Black series. There's a good amount of drama and love scenes and even scenes where loved ones die, which makes for an interesting change.
