Publisher's Summary

It all started with a chance encounter in the city with Blair, his late wife.

Chris Matheson and the Geezer Squad, working under the guise of a book club, dig into the events surrounding his late wife’s supposed death halfway around the globe. A state department employee shoots himself in the back three times. A CIA operative goes missing. A woman is targeted by an international assassin three years after being declared dead in a terrorist attack overseas.

Nothing is as it seems.

In his most personal cold case, Chris fights to uncover why the state department told him that Blair, the mother of his children, had been killed when she was alive. What had she uncovered that has made her a target? Who terrified her so much that she had gone into hiding, and why are they now after him?

Awesome Plot!

Lauren Carr has created an amazing book in Winter Frost. I loved how the book is full of unexpected twists, great imagery, and fitting humor. Chris has believed his wife has been dead for over 3 years, and when he’s ready to move on, his life is turned upside down. This book is both a standalone listen and part of a series. I really enjoy how the author has developed the characters and included realistic details. Her descriptions of the German Shepherd’s antics are spot on. The Geezer Squad sounds like such a fun book club! They add to the story too. This book has so many endearing characters. I love how some of them are incorporated from other books by this author. It’s like catching up with old friends. Mike Alger performance of this book is perfect. He adds the right emotions and has distinguished voices for the various characters. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will most definitely listen to more books by this author.

Lauren Carr is AMAZING

I want to be a member of the old geezer club! This is a kind of club I would get along with. I loved that this connected to Mac’s books. Lauren Carr is so talented. And it wouldn’t be a Lauren Carr book without the human like animals. These pets are so smart and interact as if they are a human. The card counting dog is my favorite. I can’t wait for the next one!

Winter Frost

I am just loving this series. The stories are fun and you are never sure who to trust in the Spy business. Except family and the Geezer Squad of course. I just love the Squad they bring so much to this series. I like that Lauren Carr keeps you guessing until the end. The dog and his hats(clothing collection) and card counting are just too much fun. Mike Alger does a nice job on this series.

Great story...till the end

Let me start by saying that the narrator did an excellent job. The story itself is a good one till the end when the author decides to insert some frivolous and lame religious dogma in to the mix. It was totally unnecessary in my opinion.

Winter Frost

Winter Frost will keep you on the edge. Cold cases heat up and the body count stacks up. But the plot will keep you turning the pages to the end. Well written and full of action
