Another great audiobook by G Bailey!

I actually had read this book by G Bailey back in 2018 and then listened to it finally recently and I am glad I did. I think its a great addition to G Bailey’s resume and whoever chose the narrators did a fantastic job. Let’s talk about the story first though.

Isola (or Issy) has a lot of pressure put on her with her family history and her current predicament. She is the last ice dragon princess and the supposed only other male ice dragon and her dont work out unfortunately. She gets fire dragon guards and can’t help falling for them little by little. Oh and did I mention there is a curse that means people lose their dragons if fire and ice fall for each other. I did enjoy the background with the curse, but I am still confused by it. I think because I listened to it in stream of reading it. The guys are all pretty gruff and I keep getting their outward appearances confused but i love their different personalities. Also loved all the different nicknames. I was shocked by the ending when I first read through the book, but I know he will redeem himself at some point. This story has tension, action, conniving and scheming, and some death thrown in. Lots of intrigue and loved the parts where she shifts into her dragon and how her dragon communicates.

Now on to the narration. I think that Kale did a phenomenal job. This was my first time hearing him and give him kudos (he has had to do some of the female characters during his chapters. I have listened to Lauren before and she did not disappoint this time either! I loved how Lauren did her different female characters, while trying to emulate the guys personalities when they talk in her chapters. I loved this combo (Lauren and Kale), definitely will continue to have these guys on my watch lists (technically listen -lists?)) hahaha never mind.

100% Recommended, Already listened to book 2 and am on book 3! Hope 4 and 5 gets these boxes sooner!!

It’s a shame it was ruined

By way too many descriptions of spoken words. It became distracting, so much so that I had to stop listening for awhile.
A sentence would be spoken followed by “he said” or “she said” or “I asked”. For example the MC found her father stabbed and cries “WHY?”then says “I asked” well DUH

The performance was good so these descriptions of what was just spoken were so redundant they became annoying
