Publisher's summary

Evolved Publishing presents the first thrilling installment of the Chosen series by award-winning author Jeff Altabef and his daughter Erynn Altabef.

This fantasy adventure series is steeped in American Indian culture and so much more.

Juliet Wildfire Stone hears voices and sees visions, but she can't make out what they mean. Her eccentric grandfather tells her stories about the Great Wind Spirit and Coyote, but he might as well be speaking another language. None of it makes any sense. When she stumbles upon a series of murders, she can't help but worry her grandfather might be involved. To discover the truth, Juliet must choose between her new life at an elite private school and her Native American heritage. Once she uncovers an ancient secret society formed over two hundred years ago to keep her safe, she starts to wonder whether there's some truth to those old stories her grandfather has been telling her.

We really enjoyed this story.

The story is well written and a very good listen. I can't wait to see what happens in book two.
The narration was very good. Angela Dawe did a great job.

I will listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Gripping, beautiful, angsty

I really enjoyed listening to Wind Catcher - so much so that I basically finished it in just two days.

While it may not be perfect, it is very entertaining.

Juliet is a 16 year old Native American who tries to be “normal”, to “fit in”. It doesn’t help that she’s a bit of an outcast at her “rich kids’ school”; trying to fit in there, however, also means distancing herself from her culture, her old friends and from her grandfather. Add to that a healthy portion of perpetually simmering teenage angst and rage… and that turns into a bit of an explosive combination.

When she is tormented with hearing voices/noises, visions and a number of brutal murders in the area, she will have to face her true identity and calling.

I found the title entertainingly written and very enjoyably narrated, although a couple of characters or arcs could have probably been constructed a little more elaborately. Like the headmaster’s appearances - there could be a little more explanation how the first occurence’s behavior could have reasonably led to the next.
That said, if you switch to entertainment mode and just enjoy the ride, you’ll have a lot of fun :)

The narration was lovely - very lively and enjoyable, good character distinction and Angela Dawe certainly captured the emotional states of the various characters and their whole beings really well.
