Not what I was expecting

First, let me preface this review by saying I have a great deal of respect for John Gray. He is very open about his life and is not hypocritical, and the messages he is sharing are very important (as clearly evidenced by the many 5-star reviews). My problem with the book, however, is that the book description does not seem completely consistent with the book contents. I listened through Chapter 2, and it is almost exclusively about sexual temptations. It is also largely directed to men and I could see this book as a great resource for men's support groups. Gray's personality is great, but again, the message was clearly about sexual temptations. Admittedly, as mentioned, I only got through the first 2 or 3 chapters, so perhaps it covers other areas of shame and guilt and negative thinking. In my opinion, an older book called "Hedges" has a similar message albeit it comes a much more serious tone than Gray's book. I will look for more of Gray's books because I really enjoy his presentation and tone; it's just that this book isn't for me.

Life-Changing Book!!

Wow... I just finished listening to Win from Within!! I love John Gray's transparency & revelation about Jacob's story of wrestling with God. And for narrating it... you can hear his passion.

"And then one night or maybe years, we wrestle with the deep things & He (God) gives us the key to who we really are. The power of reintroduction is the power of Becoming." This quote from Chapter 11... my favorite chapter is true for most believers.

Get this book.... it will change your life!!

Great book for anyone at any point in their Christian walk

Great book for anyone at any point of their at their Christian walk. I loved how he was so transparent. It’s extremely hard to be transparent when because you’re not sure how people are going to respond. This is a great self help book that follows the principles of the Bible.

Life Changing

I usually do not review books but this one I had to. I listened to it once already and started to listen to it for a second time. I'm sure I will be going back to it again and again. There is so much treasure in it...so much Bible revelation that sometimes I had to stop, pause and meditate on what I just heard. God has used Pastor Gray's wisdom to bring healing to my heart. I felt he was speaking to me, to my pain, to my guilt... to my shame. Even though God has restored so much in my life, I truly feel listening to this book was what I needed to not lose hope in my calling and in my future ministry. I am so grateful for this treasure. I hope your blessed as much o more as I have been. Greetings from the beautiful Island of Puerto Rico!

Another great hit.

I loved this book, I appreciate the transparency and how it relates to our lives as well how it relates to Jesus and his word. I will continue to listen to this book again. I also read Pastor Gray's first book, it was also a great book. You are so inspirational, keep it up. I would love to hear a book from you and your wife!

This book speaks volumes. The extras were a blessing. It was good to hear in the author's voice, so much character.

Hard to listen

Very monotone it would have been a better audible if there was more excitement in the voice of the person who read the book

I couldn't imagine this Young man ,John Gray could have so much wisdom I know it has to be from God I'm really thankful that I discovered this title and absorbed every single chapter and I intend to fully apply it to my life

WIN FROM WITHIN is a book that helped me rediscover my love and dependence on and of prayer and faith, thanks to AUDIOBOOKS....today’s version of modern day reading. And With a hectic schedule, and plus the fear of commitment to lugging around excess weight, I fell in love with this book in particular.

Having witness John Grays blessing first hand in attendance at Lakewood Church in Houston, I was able to do what that medium couldn’t —-it allowed me to take him with me during travel.

Separately Mr Grays delivery is engaging, right thru the audio pages. You are enraptured with every word, every morsel of advise given.

This be the gift I share with those close to me, those whom I love. This book changes thangs!..lol

It's very personable, with application for readers

I really enjoyed Win from Within and the narration was awesome. I really think a book comes to life when the author is the narrator.

Brilliant & beautifully narrated by the author

I loved this book! John Gray bares his struggles with poise whilst making practical points leaning on biblical principles. I didn't even know he was an author before this book - I'm about to add his other book to my library :-)

A must read

I was abut sceptical to read this book, so many judgemental thoughts. This book is a very good book when you find yourself walking in the dark corners of earth and suddenly you meet God in the place you never thought of. This book has transformed and changed me.
