Publisher's summary

In the second pulse-pounding novel in the USA Today best-selling Heirs of Chicagoland series, vampire Elisa Sullivan gets drawn into the shifting sands of pack politics.

Vampires were made, not born - until Elisa Sullivan came along. As the only vampire child in existence, she grew up with a heavy legacy, and tried to flee her past. Then circumstances drew her back to Chicago, and she stayed to keep it safe. With shifter Connor Keene, the only son of Pack Apex Gabriel Keene, at her side, she faced down a supernatural evil that threatened to destroy Chicago forever.

After the dust from the attack has settled, Elisa is surprised when Connor invites her to a usually private Pack event in the north woods of Minnesota, and by the warm welcome she receives from some of Connor's family, even though she's a vampire. But the peace doesn't last. The shifters tell tales of a monster in the woods, and when the celebration is marred by death, Elisa and Connor find themselves in the middle of a struggle for control that forces Elisa to face her true self - fangs and all.

I am all into this series

I guess I should start off by saying possible SPOILER ALERTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Connor invites Elisa to a shifter initiation that should be a straight forward event right ? Wrong ! Along the way they discover each other more as Elisa is introduced to the inner workings of shifter clans and politics. The relationship between Connor and Elisa is growing as well as the beast within Elisa. They discover that all is not as it seems within the Clan. The death of a young shifter female and rumors about a beast that is stalking the territory has all members of the clan on edge. Connor and Elisa run smack into a schism within the clan between the elders and the younger members. As Connor and Elisa investigate they find themselves on a path of lies and ultimate abuse of power with the clan . Not to mention the obstacles thrown in their path especially one by the name of Miranda along with the clan Elders. Events come to a head as Elisa is forced to make a decision that she can never undo and the clan may never forgive or accept. As Connor tries to defend Elisa he is becomes bound to this clan and placed in a position that secrets will be revealed. I love this series and can't wait for the next book. I definitely would recommend this series to anyone who loves vampires and shifters and the other paranormals in between. The narrator was very good. I usually buy the book and get the audio version so that I don't have to miss a thing. I have to admit that this time I only read a few pages and just listened to narrator wrap me up in this awesome story.

Better than 1st

Narrator does a good job per usual, not fantastic but pretty good.
I almost didn’t get this book as the first one was just okay. It was interesting and had potential but fell short of exciting and didn’t really have much humor in it so I was on the fence about getting this book but read some reviews (thank u to reviewers!) that said this book was better than the first and they were right!

A new take on Vampires and Shape Shifters

This story is one of the best stories I have listened to in a while. Chloe does an excelleni job writing this series.
It’s an interesting switch of roles between Conner and Ellis. Chloe has a great sense of humor.

Excellent read.

Fantastic Story!!

I've loved every book that I've read by Chloe Neill, so I may be a bit biased.
This book was better than the first! I love the chemistry between Connor and Elisa. Chloe, as always, does a great job with character and story development. Suzanne Elise Freeman is definitely one of my favorite narrators! She always brings the characters to life and never sounds dull or monotone like some other narrators I've heard recently. I hope this series continues and that Suzanne keeps narrating the whole series!

Werewolf Camp

Well, I liked the plot well enough. The characters are ok , but this felt like a romance with a bit of suspense, not quite like the urban fantasy expected from Chloe Neill. So, it was ok, except for the narrator on the audiobook, who did not add to the experience, and made the lead characters sound sort of trite.

Great!

I'm surprised that I like this series so much! The supernatural species in this world are not uber-powerful beings that humans have little chance against. They're more human with a bit of extra abilities and sightly increased strength, but nothing more. It's interesting how well this concept works for the Chicagoland universe. And this author definitely doesn't make it boring.

Good story

Plenty of action! Interesting storyline with characters that are unique and likable. Plenty of romantic moments too. The narrator did a great job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene.
