Why Do You Want to Come to America? by Eric Reese is a contemporary essay aimed at the person who wants to migrate to America. Specifically, it is aimed at Muslims who want to migrate to the United States. The essay explores the subjects of money, freedom, marriage, education, religion, and refuge. Beginning with money, Reese portrays a grim and accurate portrait of the financial struggle which exists to realize the American dream once one has arrived in the nation. Unfortunately, that same grimness exists for some native-born Americans. While the author applauds the religious freedom which exists in America, he questions the limits of some other liberties which people think are freely available to all. It was quite interesting to read what Reese had to say about protest and the results from such action.

However, the grimmest picture of all is the one on education. The author portrays foreign students in their native countries as not valuing education as much as western students. From his personal experience teaching in a foreign country, Reese tells of students who were either ungrateful for the education afforded them or thought they were better than their peers because of their educational success. He left no room for the in-betweens. One of the most interesting aspects I found reading this essay was the view in Islam that Muslims are only allowed to migrate to Muslim countries. They may visit other countries out of necessity for medical care, education, business and promoting Islam to non-believers.

Eric Reese's seven-subject essay titled Why Do You Want to Come to America? discusses various reasons why one might have a desire to migrate to the United States. Reese uses his personal experience as a person of color while teaching in Dubai as the background for forming his thoughts. Although I am not 100% in agreement with all his musings, they are intriguing and enlightening. Reese opened my mind enough to give serious reconsideration to my support of totally open borders and reasons why others want to migrate to America. Many readers will find Eric's writings controversial and provoking. I just ask the reader to be open enough to his writings to give his thoughts the seriousness they deserve, given the viewpoint from which he writes. I think most people will find some middle ground of agreement. I applaud Mr. Reese's bravery and willingness to share a different perspective.

Good Short Book

This is a good short book having the answers of the lots of question about the migrants and refugees coming to America.The author has chosen simple language to describe these reasons. I enjoyed this book.

Life is never rainbows and butterflies.

This is the second piece of literature that I have reviewed for Eric Reese. This is the quickest listen ever and I have to say that it was enjoyable. The narrator read way too fast for me. I feel like he wanted to get this over with in a quick amount of time. He could have used a couple more breaks and could have took a breather. However this essay was very informative. Since I am natural born US citizen I did not realize the most important reason why immigrants came over. Even though I am of Haitian descent, my parents are both from Haiti, it seems different when mentioning people from Muslim based countries.

You read and watch the news of people doing all they can to come to America or to a European country in order for a better life however you don't really understand the logic for them. It seems as though it is common sense to realize that people come over to different countries in order to have a better life however the fact is many immigrants portray to their families that they are better off than they really are. Eric make sure to explain the situation pertaining to immigrants and how in the West and in Europe it seems as though we are better off and everybody wants to be here. However they do not realize that it isn't rainbows and butterflies for the 'regular' people living in these countries.

I do wish that this was longer and that the topic was delved deeper into however this was a good quick read.

This book provides quality information for people who are thinking about moving there. The book is short, only 25 minutes.
The narrator is very good, nice tempo and tone of voice. Liked how he performed.

I' really happy to have this informative book. I was lying in my bed and listening to this book by Eric Reese. I really want to appreciate this author for such a helpful book for the listeners. It is a concise and to the point book and I really like to recommend it.

This book has some true guidelines for the migrants and the refugees. The book has been presented in a simple way. It is even a short book for only 25 minutes but, you'll find it helpful for sure.

While it mostly examined the thoughts of those outside the Americas some of the reasons would also apply to them as well.

The issues were well laid out and thought out as far as the responses went.
