Publisher's Summary

When reclusive photographer Rob Fossick’s mother dies, he is presented with an intriguing problem to solve – minutes before her death, he discovers that she was hoping to deliver a package to an enigmatic character called Mr Satoshi. So begins a quest that plunges him into the urban maelstrom of Tokyo. With the help of an octogenarian amateur detective; a beautiful ‘love hotel’ receptionist; and an ex-sumo wrestler obsessed with Dolly Parton, Rob edges closer to uncovering the mystery surrounding Mr Satoshi, and comes face to face with some demons of his own.

Critic Reviews

"There's an almost dream-like quality to the narrative ... An unusual, playful and clever book." (Daily Mail)
"An elegant and incisive examination of how history and our perceptions of the world are partial, filtered and continually revised." (Observer)

Who is Mr. Satoshi?

I believe this is Jonathan Lee's debut novel, and I therefore had no expectations.

I thought it a delicious story of loss, love and discovery and most beautifully narrated by Peter Wickham with his elegantly soothing voice.

I thoroughly recommend this book and cannot wait to read Lee's second novel...
